AEM SHOULD know but they don't.

It's extremely important. Unfortunately most of what you'll read about them is wrong

They sense knock in a different way with a different sort of input giving a different output.
I understand the difference, but was hoping you could actually contribute to the forum rather than just step in and make false claims.

Well no, you DON'T understand the difference, that's the problem.

You're just saying you do.




A flat response sensor acts like a microphone with a bandwidth of maybe 20Hz to 18 KHz.
Most knock energy is above 18 KHz, it's just that you can't measure it..........the accepted theory with bore size is completely wrong too.


A resonant sensor doesn't pick up a frequency, it detects the initial shockwave (dp/dt)
It's an electronic tuning fork. it's triggered by banging it. It's frequency is chosen so its not close to any natural frequencies which might make it resonate when there's no knock.
The output voltage of a resonant sensor (sine wave) is about 100 times greater than of a flat response sensor.
