Well I own a racing version Evo 5. I was thinking about electronics and heard about the UTEC. Will the UTEC work good on an Evo 5? How much would a UTEC cost roughly?

 

i dont think so, the wiring diagram are probably too different, i know somebody fit an AEM (standalone) for an Evo8 to fit in a Evo7 but it required some cuting of wires

 

The key to determining if it will "work" is to figure out initially if the wiring is essentially the same.. then you can focus on the differences in how the signals are interpretted..

 

I believe that would also apply to the turbo XS UTEC given that you get the wiring done?

 

I wish I could see what the Evo5 wiring harness to the ECU looked like.. there's some difference in the coil bank wiring and fuel injector wiring.. anything else, I'm not sure of. *IF* the physical connections are the same, and there are very few differences otherwise, it can be done..

Try to search for some info on the Ralliart ECU's for the EVO7, see if anyone has swapped one sucessfully into the 5.. If they have, and its documented, your half way to your answer. since the USDM 8 does have some differences those will have to be researched.

idk, but i have a utec barely used i'll sell for 150$ shipped if you want to try it out. Worst case i'm sure you can get what you pay for it if it doesnt work
