ECU Mounting Options

Does anyone make a mounting setup for aftermarket ecu's going in to non gutted race cars(mounting in the stock-ish location)?

I have a 1500 in my evo 8 but its currently laying on the passenger floor. Looking for other options...

Can't it go into the stock location, just put some double sided tape on it.

Stock location works perfectly fine, there's plenty of space. I currently have my 1500 mounted behind the glovebox, fits fine and the box still closes like nothings there.

I was too lazy to remove my factory ecu so I left it in place. My AEM is now screwed to the floor/firewall up above where the passengers feet would go. Its far enough up that its out of the way.

That's fine if you don't often take passengers, but when I had some harness dangling in that spot my passengers would make it a mission to kick it and **** it up lmao. Probably don't want anyone kicking your Infinity haha

Ya I dont really have people ride in the car with me. When i do it's with the kid so the passengers seat is useless anyways. And if the other half sits up front, she is barely over 5ft tall so it's not like her legs can even touch the ground haha. I keep telling myself I'll move it to the stock location one day but havent figured out which day I was talking about.

BTW - can you post some pictures if you have them on how yours is mounted?

Just double stick taped it to the place where the stock ecu mounts too?

I used zipties through the mounting holes lmao. Not the most professional, need to build a bracket one of these days, it'd be very simple, no bends needed.

Yeah shouldn't really be an issue unless you often have friends in the car. Luckily I traded most of my friends for the Evo life, so I have no such issues.
I've never taken pics of it because it's not very pretty due to me having apart the boomslang harness lol. I'll take some and post here.

It takes 5 min to pull the stock ECU....and maybe another 15min to fit the new ECU in its place and secure it. Maybe its just me but I would rather have it up and out of the way for the small amount of work it takes.

My car is gutted and there's nothing behind the dash. Ecu is mounted on the stock bracket which is welded to the firewall. Well out of the way of feet.

Fair enough. Makes sense.

I just picked up a PNP Haltech Elite 2000 for my Evo 9 and was actually wondering where to mount the box as well. So it does fit in place of the factory ECU? If you guys have some pics of how you mounted them, I'd appreciate some pics.

Thanks!

You'll have to fabricate a bracket to mount it in factory location. I suppose you could use zipties for the time being. I keep forgetting to take pics when I'm working on my car of my mounting behind the glovebox. I wouldn't call it a very "professional" install, but it makes it very easy to remove to repin connectors and make changes. Fits perfectly though and doesn't move at all. I have the 1500 btw.
