UTEC-SD v1.0.0 Now released!

Hello all you crazy kiddies!!

I have made UTEC-SD (Super Dash) available for download from the following FTP site:

ftp://67.170.164.219

Login and password are both:
utec

All lower case. If you are using Internet Explorer as your ftp browser please ensure you enable passiv mode under:

tools-->Internet Options-->Advanced

Put a check mark in the box labled:
Use Passiv FTP

UTEC-SD supports both the WRX and EVO UTEC brains and has a complete Graphing system with a full digital dashboard and logging system built in. It also has support for UTEC systems enabled with Wideband.
Please read the manual (included with this release) before operating for some very important information!

Thanks,
Chris Pavlas
cpavlas@easystreet.com

Here is a screen shot of the main menu!
Please let me know what you think and what features you would like to see in the future.

Ok, I got it downloaded.

I've read the instruction but the htm file is missing a file to show the snap shot (jpg).

Anyways, to log or plot data, do we need to convert the values to "csv" or can we use the regular "txt" files?

Ok, how do you also load the data up also (assuming Im not doing live logging but want to log an existing run)??

I click on "open" and it says it needs files with ".vi" or other unfamiliar extension files...

Thanks

Doh!!! I forgot to include the damn jpg file hehe. Ok, the "Run Contiuously" button is the arrows that go in a circle located in the top left hand corner of the main screen. Its the middle button between the stop sign and the regular run arrow.

For your second question I forgot to think about adding a load file button for the graph. Right now the only thing you can do is hit the main menu button then hit the Graph Log button again to get the load log screen. The parser only works with CSV files. I have only tested it with *.txt files in CSV format. It needs to match the CSV format that is saved by the logging tool built in to UTEC-SD. If you already have logs saved that you want to chart but they are not in CSV format then you can load the logs in Xcel and convert them to CSV. Xcel will save the file as *.CSV. Simply rename the file to *.TXT and then load the log.

I will get a load new log button added to the graph. I spent more time working on the logging features this time around and spaced out on some obvious stuff for the graphing.

Please let me know how the data logging works for the WRX. I wasnt able to do any last minute testing because I dont have a WRX so I dont know if I got the character count correct or not.

Keep the questions coming! Its the only way I will be able to design this thing in a format thats useable!

ok, i got it to plot now (guess its gotta be in CSV values), but now I'm trying to figure out how to use the "digital dash". Does do "replay" or only live plotting of the log

The Digital Dash is not a playback tool. Its just a digital dash display of your car. It seems kind of pointless right now to get real time feedback from your car since you cant do anything about something thats already happened. However, the reason this is there is because I am working on an auto-logging feature that will log for a set amount of time if certain events happen like throttle position is over 80% for x amount of time or knock events occur etc. You will also be able to use the digital dash on a 7in screen and define variables to flash the individual boxes when they are past a certain point. Right now you can see this representation with the TPS. If it gets over 50% then the TPS box goes RED. AFR will do this as well if RPM's are over 4500 and the AFR value is above 12. In the future these will be settable by the user.

As for a straight playback function I can add a Play back feature with all your gauges if you think it would be useful. It has a cool factor but not really practicle for tuning. At least not that I am aware of =)

yeah, the play back is not useful for tuning, but its cool to have as a demo or to show/display to your buddies (for those who doesn't know how to interpret graphs). Just for looks.

But yeah, it would be very beneficial if there is a "log upload" button ;-) heheheheh. it sure took me a while to figure out how to load it but eventually just fiddling it for 10 minutes I kinda got it to load.

ALso, the log isn't picking up the WB AFR (or in plotting existing log) basically in the WRX, w/o a WB, the AFR is shown in the 7th column, but when a Tuner is present, under that AFR (the 7th column) will show up as "WB" and the wb AFR value will pop up at the end (as the new 14th column). I wasn't sure if you were aware of this or not though. But basically when I plot my log, it just shows a straight line. (I did click on the WB AFR button too)

Hey Frisco,

The log I have here from a WRX is working fine for WB. Can you send me the log you are having troubles with so I can compare them? Here is a short excerpt of the log I used to test wideband and other WRX logging stuff.

So I am looking at releasing version 1.0.1 tomorrow. In this update the following items will be updated:

-User settable thresholds for the Digital Dashboard (Done via settings)
-Added "Load Playback" button on Graph tool

I may have PEAK HOLD in for tomorrows update as well. I would also like to address any issues peeps may be having so if you are having problems with something let me know!

Thanks!
Chris

This log works if your not using the TUNA WB and the stock. Thus On this log, the AFR is just the "STOCK" o2 sensor (the stock o2 IS a WB but only measures up to 12.5:1) and not the true wide band one. As you can see, the AFR is in column 7.

Here is a log where the TUNA wideband o2 sensor is being used and logged

Basically, the WRX stock o2 is a wide band, but when it reaches beyond 12.5:1, it reads rich, so TSX solved this with the tuna and it basically adds a 14th column where the WB AFR is shown and the original column AFR will just show "WB" instead and the 14th column (the last one) will show the WB AFR

this one is in CSV format

As you can see from the bold "W/B" thats teh true WB on teh WRX's

so basically, on your logger, if you don't click WB, your logger should just read the original AFR column, and if you click "WB" then it should read the WB value from the 14th column or something like that. The original 7th (AFR) column will still exist, but it will just read "WB"

UTEC-SD 1.0.1 is now RELEASED:

Download the latest version at:

FTP://67.170.164.219

User name and Password is:

utec

all lower case.

Updates in this version:
- Added User settable thresholds for the Digital Dash. These options are settable under the settings tab from the main menu

- Re-formatted WRX data logging. Data Logging should now work properly for WRX users. Please let me know if this isnt the case or buy my a WRX with a TurboXS in it =)

- Changed how WRX WB information is handled. Now if the WB enabled is TRUE then I will parse the correct WB field from the end of the log but if WB is left as false then I will parse the standard WRX AFR reading built into the car. Basically dont select WB Enabled unless you have the Tuna box installed

- Optimized parser to operate a bit faster on files larger then 5MB

- Made some windows re-sizeable. Be careful with this one though. The buttons get really large and they wont shrink again until you restart the program =/

- Changed the names of the windows to accuratley reflect their actual function

- Reformatted the Digital Dash color scheme

- Pissed off wife for writing this update instead of rubbing her neck
