UTEC Changing maps on its own ???

Hey guys,
I installed my UTEC about 3- 4 weeks ago and have been LOVING it ever since. Yesterday i felt that my car was running slow, and i noticed that when i started it the "Check Engine Light" didnt flash, wich means its on map 0, allthou the map selector was on map 1. I pulled the map selector out and clicked the little red nipple over to Map 1 and the light flashed like it is supposed to. So i just left the map selector out of the Utec and the Nipple on stage one. Today, i started my car and the "Check Engine Light" didnt flash anymore, but i checked the UTEC and its still on map 1. Does the UTEC change maps for safety or is there something wrong ??

Please help !!!

Taylor

Check the toggle switch on the unit.. It sounds like its in program mode (for flashing with a new firmware) and not run mode.. flip the switch and see if that helps.. Its possible it wasn't toggled all the way over, or a good bump might have jarred it.. also verify all your connections but it does sound like the program switch.. Did you upgrade the firmware recently?

Another member had trouble with saving maps, and them reverting back to something else or disappearing.. he flipped the switch.. Even if its not flipped, it could be not making good contact, so if it makes no difference, flip it back.. It may help.

So your certain, hook up your laptop with hyperterminal and with the car idling, enable the dashboard, look for the switch number and see what its on (should be whatever the rotary switch is set to) then change it and make sure it changes.. then shut the car down, and do the same thing and see if it comes back..
