Utec Maps
Just throwing an idea out.
Anyone want to try to get a pool of maps together like the WRX guys have over at wrxhackers.com. This way people can have better baseline maps to work with. Maybe some maps for certain mods (turbos, cams, injectors), different octane maps, bad gas maps, etc. just an idea.

sounds good to me. i am a new user and am just learning tuning, but i am currently tuning a 100octane map, that should be done by this weekend.
however, i am waiting on my wideband to really get aggressive.
i will post a couple of maps this weekend.

Yeah, many of the maps depend heavily on the cars modifications and setup.. For example how the boost solenoid controls boost, and how much you get, depends heavily on what vacuum source (stock location, or T'd off the BOV Vacuum), The type of intercooler, and even the BOV.. Since any of those things could affect the max boost you'll get..
Fuel map is a similar situation.. different air filters, intakes even on an otherwise identical car will have slight differences..
The biggest deal (and the most potentially dangerous) is timing, since it depends heavily on what your AFR's are, the gas your running, the boost, and temp.. Also, advance or retard the timing too much and you can get very high EGT's (Exhaust Gas Tempuratures) which can actually get hot enough to melt the aluminum components in the engine.. So its not just about watching detonation (knock) and AFR's.. but making moderate changes, and having the right tools to adjust them.. A generic MAP is not a good idea to use unless its a starting point, but certainly not something you load and forget..
Basically thats why when I posted my MAP, I removed the timing settings.. My car is generally Knock resistent, and doesnt seem to mind aggressive timing and a fairly lean AFR.. other cars could easily become damaged with the timing or the AFR's if their prone to detonation or high EGT's.. Or simply their using different hardware where they have a lean spot where I have a rich spot.. so I lean it out on my map.. but in their case it might be too lean..
