Knock Detection (CEL LIGHT) Question
Knock Detection (CEL LIGHT) Question
I know that with the Utec when it detects knock it flashes your CEL. My dumb *** bought a boost gauge pod and now my CEL is blocked becuase of it. I really do like the location of the boost gauge and kinda dont want to move it unless i REALLY have to. Anyone have any ideas of what to do where i can keep the pod where it is. Is there a way to hook up a LED so that it will flash instead or with the CEL when knock is detected?

When I got knock running the TurboXS std map, I didn't realize I was getting it until I could feel the power drop down big time. And even then I only saw the CEL light because I got a high knock count of 22 or so.
Later when i looked back at my utec log for that run, I saw that I had a touch of knock here and there, and a few 3 or 4 knock count events - none of which I felt.
Remember all this is happening at WOT, so I am not exactly looking down at the instrument cluster, and I think even if you were cruising on the freeway and say you got knock, if it wasn't severe enough to pull the timing you would not look down and so would probably not notice.
Long story short, in my experience if you get knock bad enough you feel it, you don't need the cel flashing. Most other knock you won't know about unless you're going over the logs.

See, I have a shift light mounted on the left side of my steering column.. so I always see yellow in my peripheral vision.. at night I Immediately can detect the flashing of the CEL light when I get knock (have gotten it twice on dozens of runs, I rarely get any form of knock) during the day, the CEL light flashing is pretty useless, you'd never see it..
