Firmware
Firmware
If you already have the UTEC what do u need to get the new firmware they are going ot release. i am just a little nervous here. The one guy posted about ordering the UTEC stage 2 and only recieved the stage 1 . I am curious if that will happen to me when mine arrives. You cant download it off the site yet its downloaded on the UTEC when u buy the stage 2 package. At this point would the XEDE be a better bet. I rarely see any responses from the TUrboxs guys on here. I always see shiv repsond to posts.
relax, you made the right call. If it doesnt come with it, they can email it and you just key it in. Its no big deal. Its only a starting point anyways. When you install the parts, you need to tweek it anyways. Maybe they used 94 octane and you have 91 or vice versa. Anyways you need to tune your car cause they are ALL different, even if they are the same.....RRR
You made the right choice, The TBXS guys only respond when your peers cant help. Which gives them more time to do other things such as develop new products and fine tune the new firmware and all the maps that will be coming out soon. There are a lot of guys that came over from the wrx world and know a thing or two about the utec and all it can do so they can answer most if not almost all the questions with out the TBXS guys having to answer. But they are good guys and im sure the guy that only got the utec will be happy when he calls them as they will straighten everything out.
yeah, send them an e-mail, they'll send you a new map for the stage2 hardware..
Just so you know, you have to save your maps to your PC before you upgrade the firmware, you can then load them back in.
If you've upgraded any of the configuration parameters, you'll have to either jot them down, or back them up (depending on firmware version) so you can restore them later. Actually, its a good idea to periodically back up your maps and configuration.
after you have gotten connected to your UTEC several times, you then know you can upgrade your firmware.. This stuff may seem overwhelming, but its VERY easy to do.. Including upgrading the firmware, basically they give you the tool and the file you need to upgrade it, and the instructions (essentially back up maps, flip switch on utec, upgrade firmware, switch back, re-load your maps) After you've played with it awhile, it gets easier.
The Current Stage1 map is a bit weak, it has conservative timing to prevent detonation with 91 octane gas, it did feel a little weak on my car compared to its stock tune..
The UTEC is THE hardware to have short of a full standalone ECU which would likely be overkill for 90% of the cars and mods..
The truth is, its a good idea to have the car tuned by someone experienced REGARDLESS of the solution you choose.. Even the "Canned" maps provided by any tuner will not be perfect for any particular car unless you have the exact mods they have, run the same fuel, and the car ran similar baseline numbers.
