Installed my helix dp

So on friday of last week I installed my downpipe. I didn't have any major problems, just that the bolts given in the kit did not bolt up to my stock cat (had to use the stock bolts, good thing I notice since I could have stripped the threads),and I've had some stalling issues at low rpm.(ex. parallel parking or making a 3 pt. turn) I think I just need to adjust my throttle cable, but it is a little weird that this would happen.

Anyways, I do realize that this downpipe does not seem to be meant to bolt on to the stock cat, but rather the helix test pipe or 3 inch cat, which I have some questions about. On the test pipe, why is it necessary to relocate the O2 sensor to the test pipe? What is the difference if I just left it in the O2 sensor housing? And on the 3inch cat, is the helix cat a real catalytic converter, or is it basically just a muffler?

Aside from a few annoyances, I am happy with the results of my downpipe purchase.
The power and torque is basically right there when you hit the gas, especially in 1st and 2nd. And I gotta love the sound, very intoxicating!

But I do realize that to make this kit complete I would need the cat back exhaust and the 3 inch cat,but $699 seems a little high when I just purchased the downpipe. Think we can work out a deal? I can't wait to get my exhaust system completed, it will definately be one sweet system!

Cal, let me know asap,

thanks alot
Jon

Yes it will work with the Random Tech Cat. I have the Helix dp with RandomTech Cat and HKS Hi-Power cat back. I have the 1st version of the dp.

Hello Jon,

The bolts provided in the DP kit are for 3" cat or test pipes. Sorry for not being clear when you purchased the dp.
As for the stalling issue, this is actually the first I have heard. Perhaps you should re-set the ECU for 30sec and see if that cures the issue.
If you are looking for a cat-back and 3" hi-flow cat, please send me a PM. I can offer you a package deal since you purchased the DP from us.

Thanks

Cal

Make sure there's no exhaust leak. I had mine for almost a year and it drives well. The Helix high flow cat is just like the Random which uses the metal inner part instead of ceramic. I really like my Helix HF cat more than the Random which uses stamped flangs instead of welded flangs like Helix.

You don't relocate the O2 sensor in the O2 housing. There are 2 O2 sensors. The one in the O2 housing sends a signal to the ECU to let is know how to adjust fuel, trying to keep it near stoich during open loop. The rear O2 sensor just lets the ECU know if the catalytic converter is working correctly. You put the rear O2 in the test pipe.
