'02 OZ and TSI Kit question
I have a 2002 Lancer OZ and I am getting ready to order the TSI Kit. I was looking at the RRM kit too, but the price is a little too steep for me. What are the major differences of the two as far as included parts go? Since I am getting the IC TSI kit, will anything be missing (other than good instructions) that I may want to add when I install the kit? I am very mechanically inclined when it comes to cars, but I have no experience with turbos and your help is much appriciated.
You need a few exhaust gaskets for the downpipe, and some way to boost fuel pressure even more than the included FMU does. Ryan uses a inline fuel pump up by the fuel rail, but I think an adustable fuel pressure regulator will work too. You also got to cut the back of the front bumper out for the intercooler. You can run on 1 fan (the AC one), Ryan did all summer, if you dont have the $ for one that goes on the front side of the radiator. You need a A/F meter of some type, bare minimum of a o2 meter, which will tell you if you are dead lean or dead rich but nothing really inbetween. If you are doing this all at once its easier to put in the EGT than stand on your head and splice into the o2 wire on the ecu. Thats all I can think of for now. I'll PM ya some secret ****.
TSI Kit
How much added cost will I have to get all of the things you say so that it will run prpoerly? I don't really want to say to go cheap, but I am looking for the best value more than the lowest price. I know the RRM kit is basically "plug and play" and for that it has me thinking to wait and spend the extra $$$. My goal for the imediate future is 230 whp and to beef it up later with motor work and higher boost.
another thing to add about the instructions. yes they are very generic instructions, but tech support is VERY helpful. just ask them for the # to tech support. when we were installing my buddy's civic kit we made several phone calls to them. they are very helpful and they'll stay on the phone with you till you fully understand everything.
