Ok, so the filter placement issue is a lost cause...
That seems horribly unlikely to me. I'm not saying you're wrong, but what if someone was like "yes, now I'm going to up the boost to a billion PSI!"? It seems to me that it would be financially foolish of Mitsubishi to cover something like that.

Yeah I have heard of honda doing this with their s2000...it would remain under warranty if you had the dealer install their FP (Factory Performance) package, that was a SC, but I havent heard of anything like this with a 3rd gen eclipse, but who knows?
It's the main reson why mitsu discontinued the mass production of the GS-T and GSX. Too many aftermarket upgrades and claiming under warranty.

The only way the warranty can be void is that if the dealership can determine that the modification caused the problem and if it is not the mods then your car is still under warranty. That is what my mitsu service dept told me.
