Turbo Question

SO I WAS AT A AUTOWRECKERS YETERDAY WITH MY FRIEND, AND I FOUND AND T3 TURBO FROM A SVT MUSTANG AND A INTERCOOLER FROM A VOLVO. NOW BOTH ARE IN GREAT CONDITION AND THE GIRL AT THE COUNTER SAID SHE WOULD GIVE ME BOTH FOR 200 (CANADIAN DOLLARS). NOW MY QUESTIONS I COULD THEY WORK IN A TRUBO SET UP FOR A LNACER AND IF SO WHAT ELSE WOULD I NEED ( BESIDES PIPING AND SOME ONE TO INSTALL IT).

Please read the forum rules and do not post all in caps.

Fitment would probably be an issue on the intercooler. I'm fairly the T3 will not bolt directly onto any turbo kits either, so you'd have to custom fab a manifold or return pipe and find a place to fit the turbo itself. COULD they work? Maybe. Are they they best choices? Probably not.

the reason i ask is cuz i could get a t-28 and have a shop that with do piping and installation for a 1000.so effectivally i could have a turbo set up for about 1200. i just want some input on would this work and if so what else is needed.

You're forgetting probably the most important thing: fuel. Pump, injectors, management... not to mention things like oil return lines and exhaust. You'd still have to spend a goodly bit more.

Well, if you know enough to do most of the labor yourself, and if you can get most of the parts really cheap....maybe. I'd suggest starting to save and simultaneously doing a ton of research on both existing Lancer setups and turbo systems in general. When you're more informed (unless of course you're already well informed) you'd be in a better position to make the decision.

$3000. You should really get the Road/Race Turbo Kit.

definately pay more and get it done right the first time. that way the rest of the money you put into it is building on instead of replacing.
