t-25

hey wassup guys, i have a 96 sc2 that im currently in the process of turbocharging. my friend has a 04 lancer es he wants to turbo also. so i joined the evolutionm community to find out about his car so i can help him out.
ive read up about the pros and cons of the tsi kit. the cons are not that bad, but i need to find out a little about the t-25 that it comes with.
i know how to read a compressor map and ive plotted rpm points for his engine and from prior knowledge know that the t-25 is way to small.

so question 1 is actually three part :what rpm does it start making boost, make full boost, and when does it run out of steam

question 2 is about max boost and horsepower on stock internals. on the threads i have read that lancer's can hold about 12-13 psi w/stock internals. thats is all fine and good but 13 psi on a t-25 is not 13 psi on a t3. it doesnt matter how much boost you run, but how many horses it takes to break things.

for example if i ran a t3 off of a saab i could run about 12 psi and make 200-220 hp,which is where things start breakin. i also could run a t3/t40e at 7 psi and make the same numbers. so i actually need to know what kind of ponies your engines can hold stock rather than psi because we may still go fully custom.

any feedback would be helpful

12-13 on stock rods
pistons get iffy around 10, from what I've heard. But as always, different cars give different results.

HP before they blow - we really don't know. Generally when a Lancer blows, it's something like "turned up the boost and went boom" or "my FMU stopped working" or "I used the wrong plugs" etc. Never seen one that just overpowered the internals.

12-13 psi on a t-25?

not really hp before they go boom just what numbers are being generated at 12-13 psi.

To be honest with ya for starters a t25 isnt really that bad im running one right now on 8psi tuned a little rich im putting down 175 to the wheels and 200 tq. All stock motor just a 2.5" exhaust still have a high flow cat as well.

The turbo spools at around 2700-3000 and falls off at around 5000. Im running a T-25 @ 7psi and as soon as it spools it hits full boost and then falls to 5psi after 5k. If you get a electronic boost controller like apexi you can make up for the loss at high rpms by adjusting the boost up higher at high rps and the fall off would be made up for. My personal advice , Go with the T-28. Thats the best turbo for our cars id say!!

T3/T4 for bigger power, it takes a little more time to spool but w/ that turbo u have some growing room if u eventually want to go w/ internals, gasket and run 18 psi

awesome. thanx for the help guys. i know on my car a t-25 would spool stupid fast like 2k, and i didnt see a big difference between my 1.9 and you guys' 2 litre.
guess i was wrong. oh and go2fast i was planning on using that little trick if whatever turbo he decides on dropped off before the red. dang it, i just remembered. he was asking me about a t3 super 60. any thoughts? if not its okay cuz i already feel like a nagging house wife.

t25 for a sick fast spool but you'll not be over 200hp without pushing it. t28 you can easily get over 200hp, but it spools later than the t25. t3/4 if you gonna go 300hp+ or plan on putting in new internals to make some serious hp. otherwise, the t3/4 will be rather slow to most people's tastes without being used to its full potential.
