ok so i talked to the shop who's selling these kits.
There is no upgrade to a T28. apparently they don't have a downpipe that fits it.
and also, the SAFC is an extra $99.

^i was thinking about that. i was looking on rrm's site at their 16g stuff. if i ever managed to go custom i think i would go that route. But i just don't know enough to buy the correct parts for a custom setup.

As you know, omarboy used a T3/T4 to get there. I don't know much about the TSI kit though. What turbo is RRM using in their drag lancer to make the 298 hp they are at now? The kit I'm sure would support 300 hp, I would look more into the actual turbo. And the manifold I think I heard somewhere is stronger than the tubular manifold.
I just posted that as a reference so you know what you need and such. To hit 300 hp you probably need about 7-10k$ in parts but you might be able to do it for less if you get really good deals and such.

^thats what i'm hoping.
my rough plans:
TSI turbo - $3000 (rounded up a couple of hundered for the couple of extra parts needed)
Injectors- ?????
SAFC- $100
P&P Head- $1000
Pistons & Rods- $1500
Ported I/M - Free (or very cheap)
Ported Fuel Rail- $40
Fuel Pump- ????
Tune- ????
Catback- $150
RRM Camshaft- $400
rough total for what i got: $6,100
i don't know how much the other stuff will cost. Anything i need to add?
Like i said, i would get the TSI and run it at around 7psi on stock internals for a while until i'm ready and have enough money to go full hardcore and go for 300hp. I just wanna know if this turbo is good for my long term plans and if i'm on the right track

If I were you I'd spend the extra 1000$ and get the RRM kit which comes with a better turbo. The TSI kit comes with a T-25 correct?
Injectors should be cheap, can just get em off a suby board.
For 300 hp you might need something better than an SAFC like a Greddy Emanage, AEM EMS, Haltech or Megasquirt.
P & P sounds about right if you get it done at a machine shop.
Pistons and rods are good, might be able to get em for cheaper if you're lucky.
Can get the IM done at the same time as the head. I have a stock IM if you're interested.
Fuel pump can be had for 80$ new.
If you're serious you might need something more aggressive than the RRM camshaft. RPW might be a better option.
Other things to consider are a bored throttle body and a decompression gasket.
Don't forget about install costs either.

^ok thanks for the help. Install should only be a couple of hundered. One of my good friends used to be a mechanic so he helps me do most things. He's pretty much teaching me stuff as we go. Like the other week we did my pulley & belts.
How much power would you esstimate i could get out of the TSI kit? with a good tune and all those supporting mods i listed?

ok thats what i thought.
I mean i want your guys honest opinion, you all know me well enough. Do you guys think i NEED a 300hp lancer. Or do you think i would be just as happy with a 250hp lancer with the TSI turbo and some supporting mods. There are a few cars i wanna beat that my friends have. A stock honda civic. A stock Mustang GT and a stock 88 350zx.
if i can beat those i will be happy.

I think 200 hp on a lancer would be pretty damn good, 250 would be nuts. Don't forget these are light cars (2600 lbs?) so with 250 hp you have close to 1 hp for every 10 lbs.

hmmm ok. that sounds pretty good. i may ditch the 300hp plan and go for something more doable.
so for say 220-250 hp.
which of those support mods do you think i would need to go with the tsi kit for that kind of power?
I'm thinking i could probably ditch the p&p head, possibly the internals? Although someone is selling a p&p head for $500 so i may get that anyway.
I also am planning on picking up a phantomgrip lsd insert. Only because the RRM LSD doesn't fit an Auto.
