New Type Of Turbo

Well one of my friends has a performance eclipse. and he and some friends have patented a type of turbo. i know nothing about turbos so im just gunna tell you what he told me. his turbo forces air in, and vacumns it out as well, he says it will increase HP 60-80% you gotta have a 3in exaust tho

does this sound legit?
and if it does would anyone be intrested?
cost is ~3100
they just bought a patent (ive seen it)
it cost them like 70Gs
anyway, as soon as they get a website and all i tell you guys about it, just thought id get some opinons

theyve installed em on a tahoe and an tecoma, and they will be putting it onto a BMW M3

If you can get the patent number, we can check the patent office and verify if this is something of interest.

But hey, anyone making turbos is cool by me.

You've got my attn. I hope you are good enough friends with this guy that he may end up making a mod for the U.S. Lancer.

ok well im getting the patent # on monday and will post on tuesday
the info i have is this
it forces no air in, it sucks it all
its compatable with practically every car and at most, you need a new exaust, the tohoe HP went up 79% and 76 on the tacoma
i said that you needed a 3in exaust before, but i was wrong
we are gunna put one on my car in the very near future
then i will relay the info, hes down with a group buy discount
but ill get the specifics later

For a turbo set up you will need alot more than just an exhaust. You are forgeting about all the other parts that are needed. You will need a new exhaust manifold fabricated, intercooler if you intend on runnig a decent amount of boost. New injectors perhaps, fuel pump (this is not always needed just for higher boost.) These are just a few things, there are more! Well a new turbo is interesting but for a lower cost than that you can have a real nice set up designed and tested for the lancer that RRM sales. I am very interested in what this turbo actually is. Keep us posted.

It sounds like a turbo that you bolt in-line with the exaust instead of bolting it directly to the exaust manifold. This will work. But it will cause huge lag.

I don't understand about this part: "forces air in, and vacumns it out as well". This makes no sence. A turbocharger opperates by being pushed by the exaust pressure.

Perhaps you could get your friend on the forum to post what this thing is, maybe with some diagrams or pics and an explaination of how it works. Or at least have him email you one and copy and paste it into a post. I am curious......could you tell?

Seige,
go to http://auto.howstuffworks.com/turbo.htm . It's a very rudimentary overview of how turbos work, but it's also one of the easiest to understand articles I've ever read. After that, find the issue of Sport Compact Car from May and they explain how to turbo match and how bypass and blow-off valves work.
