If it was my car I wouldn't use nitrous until I upgraded the rods. With stock compression (9.5:1) people were blowing their motors with 50 shots. With 11.0:1 compression I wouldn't even want to do a 50 shot.

well were do you plan on putting the injection? because if you put it before the manifold you have to make sure that the manifold is designed to handle a wet shoot. (big boom) this problem is cause by "puddling". to be effective, atomized fuel must remain mixed or suspended in the air,or in this case nitrous oxide and air. because fuel is heavier then air the gas tends to seperating from the air molecules and leaving a puddle. if you just so happen to backfire (boom). fallout also occurs as airflow slows as it through tight bends, odd shapes or big openings. and at low rpms.
if you are set on this make sure the mani is ready for it.
i have also found sume mixtures that may help or may not.
(nitrous to fuel)
5:1 will produce an air/fuel ratio equal to 9.45:1 at a .5 BSFC (Break-specific fuel consumption)
6:1 will produce an air/fuel ratio equal to 11.4:1 at a .5 BSFC

let me know if you have any questions, i may be able to find out

the rods are the weakest point in the engine imho. So slim.

I'm all motor. Just want some juice on top. I got enough of hp from motor alone. And not even tuned yet and light mirage body.
Lancer engine is 120 bhp which equals let's say 95 whp. Let's say with your mods you are up to 105whp or so. Divided by two is roughly a 50 shot of NOS.

^Do you go on mirage forums at all??? Last time I did dyno, I got 127 whp on dyno dynamics. Times that by 1.1 and you get 140 whp. And that was before my 272 cam, clutch flywheel and few other things.

Now emanage blue going in and hopefully dyno this weekend.

I cant believe Im going to say this but here goes .... I agree with Amby. If your going to do something dont go HalfAss on it... do it the right way. For NOS (saying this in the ROCK'S voice) it doesnt matter what bolt on modds you have, it matters what the internals can handle. I you didnt built the motor internally then you shouldnt run NOS.

BTW, NOS on your motor would feel like a stock evo. Trade it in and get a used evo and be done.

I do have forged pistons. Rods will be in before summer end.

I just had simple question: How much can the rods handle? Ok since we have turbo freaks here, how much boost will stock rods handle?

Did the other guy that blew 2 engines had it tuned? Retard the timing? And I know he had stock internals.

I think you can run about 6 psi. You can go higher if you get a IC kit. I think you can push it to about 9 psi.

jakermeister: Finally thank you.

DRFTKNGG: Don't want it. I like to be different. And I want to stay all motor like I said it before.

Of the people who blew their engines, none were able to tell us what kind of tuning had been done prior to spraying that sh*t in. My guess is, there was no tuning done at all. At the time, nobody knew what tuning was on this board(we're talking 3-4 years ago)=, and even if somebody knew what tuning was, there was still no solutions to hack our ecu or tune anything. So I'll stand by my thaughts, and I'll still say there was no tuning done on the engines that blew up.

I haven't read this board religiously for a while so things might have changed. The blown engines are 3 years old stories (they fall right into what's described in the first paragraph). Ever since then, people started bashing Nos related thread so we never were able to get to the bottom line.

I recall 1 person who posted on here in the past 12-18 months. I can't recall his name, but he said he had been spraying for a while. If you can find him, he might be able to answer most of your questions.

I think a turbo would make you much happier. Must be a PITA to keep refilling your bottle(s). You'd probably be about 150hp with a turbo(non-IC). Which is better than the 140hp your talking about. If you get a IC kit your gunna be closer to 200hp.

he's got high comp pistons

Turbo usually mixes better with lower compression pistons.

Just thaught I'd remind you guys.
