Advice about turbo kit?

Hi my name is Nelson, i'm the owner of 03 lancer, I live in the Dominican Republic so the model name and other parts are different. So i'm writting to see if you can help on this, I'm thinking in buying a turbo kit, searching on the internet i found the road and race page and saw thier kit, but is to expensive, so i start looking on ebay, saw this T3/T4 turbo kit that comes with blow off, the intercooler and piping, and fuel pressure regulator and costs $888 plus shipping. So my question is it worth it? My car engine 1.600 cc not 2.000 like us lancer version. If you can help with this a will appreciate it.

Well, there are a ton of turbo components involved. Not just the basics (ie. Intercooler, BOV, FPR) . I would suggest searching this forum for information, THEN coming up with your own turbo kit. The primary emphasis on searching for information first.

888$ seems relatively attractive at first glance. The price drop is normally followed by drop in quality, (with few exceptions) You are paying for an Ebay grade intercooler, bov, fpr and piping. In a free market economy you WILL get what you pay for. I would suggest doing ALOT more research, then buying quality parts. In the long run you will be saving money.

Read about turbo's in gerneral before trying to turbo your lancer. Turboing your lancer is like turboing a civic 1.8L, it can be done.

I'm curious about your engine code? US lancer is 4g94.

Chances are good that the $888 kit is incomplete and will not work without you paying for a lot of custom work.

I don't want to sound mean, but you shouldn't get a turbo kit. If you can't afford a quality kit, you won't be able to afford upkeep or to replace parts if something goes wrong. If you truly want a turbo kit, then you'd be best to save your money until you can afford a good, proven kit like the Road/Race one.

These guys are dead on. I actually have one of those turbos in my basement. This guy wanted me to install it but it was garbage. Looked like it would take all day to spool. You definately want to do it right the first time. Do some research and see what others are using and save your money. This is a case where you don't want to learn from your mistake.

Your best bet is to call RRM and talk to them. Only they can honestly tell you if their kit will fit your car or what you need for a kit to fit your car. Please don't make anymore threads asking this question. 1 is enough. And no the ebay kit is not complete. It is most like a turbo (low quality), random pipes, and intercooler, and maybe a turbo manifold. But if RRMs kit doesn't fit, then ebay ones definately won't. Good luck with your search
