Which turbo is better, RRM tweeker starter kit or something else?

I am not that knowledgable of turbo and all that. Ive read ALOT of threads about different turbos for an 02 OZ lancer and i heard alot about the RRM Hacker/Tweeker turbo kit. It seems like a good way to go. I also found something on ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-06...QQcmdZViewItem, and wonder if it is really any good and would it be a load of trouble cuz i understand it is pretty big. My lancer is stock and i need to know if the ebay turbo could be used on my car safely. Any help would be wonderful cuz ide really love to get this project going!!

Sounds like you didn't do any research or read any of the threads. The tweeker doesn't come with everything you need. You might as well keep educating yourself.

Just keep on reading. Also i wouldent trust ebay on anything. You can pick up good stuff from ebay if you know what your doing but you can also get screwed. For instance i bought my tein s-tech's off of ebay and that was a good buy. But the other off brand springs are junk.

Tweaker includes no piping, BOV, fuel managment, gauges, turbo timer, downpipe, intercooler, vac lines etc.

It is what it is. A manifold, turbo and wasteate. roughly 1/3 of a turbo kit.

Okay, i understood that the rrm turbo was just a starter kit with basicly nothing. But i can trust that it will work with my car is what i was saying. But can the ebay item i mentioned (if its ligit, i understand) work well for my stock engine. If i run it at 7psi. it should huh? because it would be alot better in my opinion to buy that one or some other "ebay special" for the actual turbo and then upgrade intercooler and such. BUT will the ebay one gain boost at a higher rpm, cuz im looking for more of a low end boost?

Oki, like everyone above said, keep reading. You have no idea what you are getting into obviously. The first thing you need to realize is that even once you drop the large amount of money for the turbo, you will need another large amount of money on standby for if/when the turbo destroys your car. Taking that kind of step is putting your car at a whole other level where you need plenty of money standing by.

I think the first thing you need to do is re-evaluate exactly what you are wanting to do with the car. If you arent planning to get serious about racing the car and just want it so you can say "Hey look I have a turbo" save yourself the money and trouble and dont even bother. But if you want to get serious with the car, start talking to people who already have done things like this and get on their good side so you have someone who will give you good advice. Asking on a forum is just going to get 100 posts with 1/2 of them not knowing what they are talking about. Like me

I would strongly recommend you do more readings into the subject before you try to build what is essentially a custom kit. I'm sorry but at the moment you sound like someone who learnt about turbos from GT4. I was the same way once (and still am on some subjects) too so it's nothing to be ashamed of but it is something to change if you want to start doing big projects on your car.

Wow, well i read that thing about searching and it was a big help. There r so many ppl saying stuff out there, that it makes it seem easy. I do plan on still doing this in the future but i need to learn alot more. But to make sure, basiclly a stock lancer engine cant handle turbo. Correct? The safest way is to upgrade the pistons rods and camshaft right? i was planning on doing those things but i wanted the turbo first, cuz im only gonna do all that if the turbo works well in the first place ya know. Any other advice is welcome

Stock lancer can handle boost, If u dont overboost, use correct oil, maintain well, and tune if over 6 psi. intercool if over 6 psi and use a tune with upgraded injectors. boost wise and live long.

I threw it on, said F*** it and prey.

You need to do more reading, it's as simple as that. Having people just answer your questions isn't the way to go about this, you'll just end up completely unprepared if something goes wrong. Spend a few weeks reading the various threads in the turbo subforum then consider doing this.
