fuel problem running very lean need help
i've got an 03 lancer which i turboed recently. i've had more problems with this thing and now i found out at the dyno the other day, i'm not getting near enough fuel and just wanted to ask some people what my problem is. i'm running 5lbs of boost on a turbo specialties t25 intercooled turbo kit with a walboro 255 fuel pump. i only made 133 hp and the air fuel was nearly 15, so lean i'm in trouble...i'm not getting any fuel to make any power. i could only make one pull, the guy was scared to run it again being so lean. the fuel pressure regulator on the car is not adjustable, but was supposed to be good for 8-10 lbs. so i'm confused as to why i'm not getting any more fuel than i am. i'm going to replace the injectors now and got a quote from roadrace for $450 for the 360cc injectors they have for their turbo kit, but is there a cheaper way out than this?? i just need a little help from people who've already done this. any advice would be helpful. thanks.
stock wrx injectors work i think....you can try and find them cheaper, but I thought if you're boosting only 5pounds you can just get a fpr and turn it up or boost sensative fmu.....I had a much bigger turbo and originally only boosted 5pounds on stock injectors w just an adjustable fpr....do you have a boost gauge or a/f gauge are you sure you're at 5?
Make sure you know what type of FMU you have also. and try putting your FMU on a bigger vac and see if it will give the car more fuel. also your turbo if it was a kit should of came with a different FPR, usually adjustable FMU are good also. Check all vacs going to the fuel line and all that. I remember i put my FMU on a bigger vac and too much fuel was going into the engine and i was eating my gas up quick. just do some trial and error on it. Your turbo set-up should run rich none the less.

Fuel pumps aren't really needed in a stock setup. I haven't changed anything in my engine or fuel except for more injectors on my kit

i do have an air/fuel gauge and boost gauge in the car. and i'm definitely running 5lbs, maybe spike to 6. the air fuel gauge does read lean when your on it , but for the most part is ok if i drive the car easy. i've heard of the wrx injectors before, just not too much about them. are they drop in injectors and do you have to have clips and fuel rail bolts and all that good nonsense?? i had 89-91 460cc rx7 injectors in the car which someone told me those would work, but they were way too much fuel. the car ran really crappy and idled horribly and puffed black smoke, so i took them out and sold them. i just want to know where i can get some injectors or if someone could find me some and i'll just pay them. i just can't afford 450 bucks for injectors right now. i'm just trying to get this car running right and i'm going to leave it at that. so again, any help finding some injectors for me would be awesome or any advice on what way i should go would be helpful.
what is your whole set-up can you list it for me?
Usually a turbo kit doesn't really need anything done to the engine if its bolt-on and running only 5lbs and spikes at 6. I didn't change my injectors and the first time i installed my kit i didn't even use the extra injectors and i didn't even tune my car yet and it runs really good.

im spitting facts. so please don't think i've never done this before.

Well if you upgrade injectors you need some kind of engine management unit which is another few hundred....even if you get bigger injectors for cheap...sucks i know, but I'd try the adjustable fpr route first and turn it up high, it worked for me at 5psi, and by the way, if you do get the wrx injectors or rrm's you have to file the edges on the 4 injector ports, sounds hard but fairly easy, and then you have to wire in the new clips, also easy 2 wires per injector, and then you have two spacers stacked , because the fuel rail sits up higher where it screws into the intake manifold....It's really not that bad, just cost, honestly I'd get the fpr even if it doesn't work, which it should, then its still good to have , not a waste of money imo.

my setup is a turbo-specialties t25 intercooled turbo kit. i have only added the walboro 255 fuel pump to the kit. i do have exhaust and short ram intake but's that's it as far as aftermarket mods. i do have an apexi safc, just was told i probably wasn't going to need to use it. any suggestions on a fpr?? i'll try that before i go paying a lot of money for injectors. thanks everyone.

And I would not take anymore advice from the person that told you that you weren't going to need to use an SAFC to tune your now turbo'd car...
um from when you say short ram intake ....what does that mean?
I running your same kit. I don't think you needed those injectors...Please change them out or get a tune. And if you have the SAFC use it! it will help with your car running too lean. I would have someone install it right away.

doctorjon, what kinda boost are you running on your kit and what all do you have done?? have you changed injectors and are you using an safc?? i've just never done all this before and didn't think i'd have all these problems. are you using an adjustable fpr or are you using the one that came with the kit?? i just need to get my car to a good safe driving car...this is my everyday driver and i need to get it running properly asap. i can get the safc hooked up maybe before the weekend if that might fix my problem, but i was going to go out and by an adjustable fuel pump tomorrow and see if that fixes my problem first. how do you set the safc?? i have the installation instructions but nothing on settings. just kinda wanna now what to do once it's all hooked up.
By adjustable fuel pump do you actually mean adjustable fuel pressure regulator? I strongly suggest you do some reading as it seems like you've jumped into the deep end before you knew how to swim. You need a tune, not soon but now. If you contineu to drive the car untuned, you will blow your motor. You do not need bigger injectors, that is not the issue.
im running 7 because it comes set at 7. Its an internal wastegate. I'm running the 2 injectors kit. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out once installed. There are settings for you to push more gas into the car and less gas and in most cases you can save more gas with it. Just try and get the person installing it help you with it. As for my set-up. I'm running the turbo kit with intercooler. Test pipe with 2.5 exhaust piping.
i know i need a tune, i'm just trying to get the car correct to where i can get tuned. and i didn't say adjustable fuel pump, i said adjustable fpr(fuel pressure regulator). i don't have to know what i'm doing to put this on my car, it's my car. you gotta start somewhere. i just want advice. i don't have hundreds of dollars to go tune my car every time i change something on the car. thanks.
