turbo?

ok, my brother keeps telling me the only good way to increase hp on a four cyclinder is a turbo. right now, mine is completely stock. if i bought the RRM Non intercooled turbo kit, would i need to do any upgrades on my car first? or would the turbo be safe with all the factory stuff?

RRM's turbo kit is the best one to go with if you keep the engine stock. They are also in the process of getting their kit smog legal with a CARB #.

Your brother is wrong. Ask him how there are all motor Civics running 10's and 11's if that's true. And don't forget that supercharged I4's haul serious *** as well. Anyway, turbocharging is definitely the most cost effective/efficient way of going about it, but it's certainly not the only way to go.

turbo = good

You'll need a turbo timer - I went with HKS

A boost gauge wouldn't be a bad idea either.

A turbo timer isn't a necessity so long as you spend the extra time to properly warm up/cool down your car.

very true hobie. my friend has a civic with no timer. 1 minute before you drive and 1 minute before you turn off the engine. easy way to save $200.

Turbo timers are way less than $200. I got my FATT For $100 shipped. It's not wired correctly atm though. Anyway, I require way more than a minute to warm up. You're gonna wanna be very careful about warming up/cooling down, esp with a non ball bearing turbo which is a lot more succeptable to heat/friction damage.

Like Boe said, you're fine on stock internals to a point. RRM and RPW call them kits for a reason.
