Hmmm... I think I would have sprung for shot-peened rods and forged, ceramic coated pistons first, so I could have gone directly to T-3, instead of T-25. It's still a plan.

i was reading somewhere on here that the you're supposed to drive on the JE forged pistons for like 500 miles before boosting on them to kinda break them in. and the shot peened rods, where could i get those? thanks a lot

Stew, that return pipe may not spool the T3 very well, just a warning.

I have no major regrets. I wish I'd taken care of fuel pressure earlier to avoid my mysterious boost cut issue, but considering I still haven't gotten my FMU installed or the problem fixed I can't say that was my only problem. Honestly, it doesn't bother me that much anymore either. Still plenty quick at 5psi. I suppose the only thing I wish I'd done was saved a little of the money I spent on accessories and DVD's to get my car tuned at BM Tranny earlier. Mark is a certifiable pimp with the EMS.

Driving on replaced pistons is the same as driving a new car. You're trying to seal the rings properly.

As for oder of mods, get turbo first, then exhaust, and build your motor from there

A free flowing exhaust is a good idea, but it's not absolutely necessary. You can still run without it, though it will probably put some backpressure on the turbine.

nope...but you could prolly use some of the pipes and filter from the CAI for the turbo setup.

I only say turbo first because thats the most expensive and when you add other mods they make a bigger difference than on a NA car. An intake is not neccasary because your turbo should come with a setup that works in conjuction with it. after turbo you may want to do some custom piping for a cold air setup(send filter down by wheelwell)

A cold air intake on an intercooled car is like putting ice in the resevoir water for a cold drink at home.

The intercooler (for those that use them) is what ultimately determines the temp of your intake air charge. Heat from compression and ambient temps from close proximity to the exhaust will heat up air from the intake of a turbocharged car whether it's filter is right next to the head or peaking out the bottom of the car.

That being said, I'm not saying a CAI on is useless. If you put a pot of hot water on the stove for 2 minutes it's going to be hotter than if you put a pot of cold water on the stove for 2 minutes, but what I'm trying to say is that intercooler efficiency plays a larger role than ambient air intake temps.

Take it for what it's worth.
