My 02 oz build!

OK so i just purchased a rrm turbo setup and coilovers from Phil_ of evolutionm. The turbo is a rrm T-25 setup, external tial 38mm wastegate with a 7psi spring(for know ) with a custom smic. The coilovers are tein basics. I also have an aluminum rrm pulley. This is my first turbo build so i am very excited and nervous all in one. I am debating on weather to send the piping out to get powder coated??? I plan to start with the coilovers and the pulley on monday and than take 2 days off from work to do the turbo. I will keep everyone who is interested in this project up to date with photos and info along he way. If you have any questions or usefull tips please all are welcome. Thanks for the interest

Very nice! I too am running a T-25, but mines ball bearing. Do you have a turbo manifold yet? I didn't see one in the picture. I really like the SMIC the best sleeper look. Good luck on your build. PM me if you have any questions.

NiCE setup! I remember when i bought the RRM non-ic kit for my 02 about 5 years ago when it first came out. Nothing but good things to say about their work. The turbo is some what of a pain to install but that was only because i bought their headers after i've already installed it so had to redo everything.

You should have alot of fun with it though. You'll catch a lot of people off guard. Just don't be reckless like I was and blow up the motor. But then again stomping on it on a hot summer day with the non-ic kit at 6psi probably didn't help.

LoL. Yeah well every good thing must come to an end. Might as well go out while you're having fun.

Anywayz, some advice for the OP. I found it best to assemble the turbo assembly with the up pipe and down pipe outside of the car. Then put it in while the radiator assembly is out. This will give you the room to maneuver and basically see how everything is going to sit on your car. At which point get the tools to get to certain PITA bolts because you're going to need to retighten some things after it heats and cools <- I didn't and had to do everything over, that's when I also got the Headers. Believe me you don't want to take all those things off for 1 stupid gasket.

But this will require someone to maneuver it around while another person just secures the two bolts to the header at the bottom.

Also, don't forget to prime the feed line, and I added a small amount of oil to the turbo right before starting it up(that's just me though). And make sure your drain line is an easy/straight shot down to the pan.

Other wise good luck and keep us posted. Hope you have as much fun with it as I did.
