MAINTENCE!!! w/turbo

i have been told that with the proper maintence a turbo wouldn't change my engine life too much, mayeb 10k miles less than normal so if this is the case, someone who knows about engine wear please post a recomended maintence schedule. like what oil to run (full synthetic i think) how often to change it, etc and anything to keep an eye out for in general

thanks a lot
alex

I think somewhere in the formus a guy claims that his engine threw a rod because of synthetic, but I didn't see any proof to that, so its really your prefference, but I would recommend you run like 15W50 in the summertime...I run it and my engine loves it. Someone on this forum told me to run it saying with a turbo that our engines would run slightly hotter and synthetic runs a bit thinner than regular oil, which it does, so...Take this with a grain of salt, because there is no true way to tell how much or how little your engine will wear. I will say this...The most wear done on an engine(as far as turbos go) is during your "tuning stage" if you can illiminate the nock and ping, the detonation, and the running rich, you will have much less wear. Talk to one of the moderators they could tell you for sure.

There's nothing wrong with running rich. Tis far better to err on the side of safety. A rich mixture will deter knock. The only downside would be that your exhaust may smell and you're libel to harm your spark plugs and/or O2 sensors more quickly while rich. If you're running lean however you're far more likely to sieze your engine due to excessive heat.
