So i blew out one of my exhaust gaskets. Turns out one of the bolts got loose and fell out. I need the gasket that goes in between the downpipe and the hotside piping. I have a buschur 2.5" downpipe also. Anyone know where to get replacement ones besides rrm directly? Looking to gtlet it before the weekend. Thanks

 

clean both surfaces and put the 2 back together. So much better this way

 

Really?!^. Just run ut without the gasket? Won't it leak tho. I thought u gotta have a gasket ti properly seak it

 

Most of us in the VW world dont run gaskets on the exhaust side but for the head to manifold. The turbo to mani, turbo to dp, and wastegate to mani are all w/o gaskets. If both surfaces are not warped, then it will not leak. Save a huge headache. I havent run a gasket for years and dont have a singe issue.

 

I use copper gaskets from summit racing.

 

What do i use to make sure the surfaces Are perfectly flat? To 4g94t- could you tell me which ones you got? (diameter etc). Thanks

 

They should be rather true when you got them. Take a strait edge to them and see. If they arent, you have to get them machined flat which is more of a hassle then just getting a better gasket and hardware

You will have to make the holes a little bigger.
It works well, especially after manifold before the turbo.
I had to replace that so many times, and it's not fun
You can also try some threadlocking glue on the bolts so they don't move from the heat and vibration.

Retorque after a heat cycle.

 

By cutting the holes bigger you mean the bolt holes right?
That manifold flange is a ***** to get to ya...

Right, the bolt holes. Nothing difficult, i think enlarging one hole will do
