Question questions about turboing

i know there have been many threads on this subject but i can never really find out what i need to know. i know that everyone is going to say that i shouldnt do this if i dont know a lot about the subject but i am a quick learner and i am looking for some help. ok now i have pretty much found out everything i am going to need to build my own turbo kit. but i need some help with acually putting it together so i have some questions. first off, i want to know what the difference between a fpr and a fmu. secondly, do i have to have a boost controller if the bov is ajustable and if i do which is better a manual or electronic? also, the tubo i have has on oil connection and a water connection. where should i pull the water from? im running out of questions but i am sure i will thing of more. if anyone can help me i would really appriciate it. thanks

2002lancer-OZ no offence.. but seriously.. just buy the RRM kit from what i've read.. you don't know very much about cars in general... to answer a few questions yes you still need a boost controller even if you have a BOV.. your gonna wanna get a electronical over the manual... the turbomanifolds from other cars won't work.. from what i know you can get 1 made from a shop or you can just buy the RPW manifold.. but in my opinion just sell your turbo and buy the RRM turbo kit

its not that i dont know much about cars. but, i know that i dont know everything. which is why i am asking questions. also, i am not asking whether i should buy a kit. (some people dont have 4 grand to spend out of there pocket.) i would just like some answers. so please dont knock me for trying to learn. that being said. why wont the turbomanifolds from other cars work. isnt it possible that there could be one that has the same size spacing and pipe also with the same bolt pattern that is from another car. just so i wouldnt have to custom make one.

well, you dont necessarily NEED a boost controller, because you should be able to get the wastegate and just set it to what psi you want, but you should DEF get a boost gauge, egt, afr, just to mention a few, keep an eye on oil pressure, and fuel, big time fuel

what turbo do you have?

be prepared to get some brass T's because took me running around to 5 different stores to get mine.. make sure you have ALL the parts before you even start. Im not even going to begin on telling you all the parts that i had to get that were left out of my kit. Man.. im at the part now.. where my slimline rad fans come in tomorrow.. thank god.. and hopefully ill be boosting tomorrow afternoon.. just mounted my ic and it looks hot... im going to write down every single part that I used i already been working on it for 2 days over 15+ hours and have ran to the parts store about 8 times.. but Im not making mine a cobble job.. tomorrow mounting my piller.. I got 2 gauge piller pod off a wrx auto meter piller pod.. and had to melt the bottom of it to make it form correctly around the bottm... tomorrow comes the sanding and going to get some mathing paint made up but its going to look amazing when im finished.. also have to mount my s-afc tomorrow.. another job in itself.. but shouldnt be too bad

oh and btw.. a mirage manifold will work.. but your going to need to get some SUPER SUPER slimline rad fans... i was thinking about taking out my center rad support and hood latch and just putting in pins.. that way id be able to fit my slimline fans but there for a bmw and 18" mass triming would have to be done because our rads are only 16" high... and roughly 28" wide i think the ones im getting ate 12"x10" for 149 a peice.

well thatnks for the advice. by the way im going to be running a k26 turbo ( ive heard its about the same as a t3 ) also the wastegate i purchased is set at 7 psi. also about the fuel, one of my original question was about the difference between a fpr and a fmu. is there any difference at all. and is there a specific one that i need. and where can i get some bigger injectors? thanks for the help

unless your running an intercooler and know exactly what your going, you better set that wastegate to 5, you should get a better fuel pump, fpr - fuel pressure regulator? fmu - fuel management upgrade? just look around, do searches on the internet, get the injectors from an eclipse, im writing this fast so the model slips me but just PM anyone with a turbo kit and ask them which injectors they used, but it depends on your setup so yea

have someone port out your injectors for you.. or get them off rpw they send u stock lancer injectors just ported out to set them at 300cc You need to get your manifold first to see if everything will fit.. because i have about a half inch room between my turbo and rad.. so that will be your main concern... just get an FPR and a new fuel pump off a 2g eclipse i purchased mine off ebay for 82 bucks.. and turbo is right your going to want to set your wastegate around 5 if your not going intercooled... otherwise 7-8 w/ intercooler.. your also going to need some steel braided lines for your return line and feed line, also going to need an MTP tap for drilling through the oil pan.. actually oilpan(block) so that its secure.. took me a while to do that... you just drop the pan i think they are 10mm bolts.. not positive but I also deleted my AC, so I had to get a different belt, the proper belt size if you get it is 305mm if you delete your ac which will help better cool your rad because you wont need the ac fan.. and you might as well order those slimline's too because your going to need them trust me. other than that.. make sure you have all of your bolts and hoses and you should be all set.

you will be fine running at 7psi but dont know how much the injectors cost.. call a local shop see if they will port them out.
its your cheapest decision.. if you get them from rpw.. their gonna take a while plus its in australia.. took me 5 days for them to email me back.. and im notpaying 15 dollars a minute to talk to them not in my budget
