do you think installing an evo knock sensor will cure most of the problem?
I know when I boost you can feel a difference because the ecu flips out and pulls timing

Thats good info, ill make a note of this! Because whenever i hit the gas hard at real low RPM, like 1,500 to maybe 2,400 i get knock 5, then 4, 3, 2, 1, 0 while accel. But the voltage is like 1.2v and it never gets higher, it always decreeses! Ill look for this in my logs from now on, to determine if the knock is real or not!

Haha

Is it still as safe as running 10 pounds though ?
As far as tunning it go's i work with one of the best tunners in Texas so that wouldn't be a problem .
hey 02-lancer-es who is your tuner in tx and where is he located. i am gonna be needing a tuner and i only live like 3 hours from tx, and i cant find anyone good here in oklahoma

I've heard similar advice, but also advice against using voltage to determine false knock. Some say a "sharp" peak helps to show real knock, and that slow steady lines of knock voltage that just barely creep above the threshold of "what is knock" are probably engine noise. Still, this is a very difficult thing to see in the graphs.

As for an evo knock sensor, I think there are really 3 things at play here.

1. the knock sensor
2. the knock sensitivity, multiplier, single and triple gain settings
3. the engine itself

Each of these things is "tuned" for a 4g6x engine, but we have a 4g94 engine. They probably need to be adjusted to work right, and also....the added noise of the turbo and performance has to be taken into account. The thing that concerns me most of all, is what JRR says. He got an evo ECU, and put settings in for his fuel/timing/maf/idle and what not, but says he left his knock settings "Stock". From what i can tell, the evo engine is less sensative in low rpm, the same in mid range, and more sensitive up top. This may not be true, because the single and triple gains are different, so really, I have no idea how to compare the 2. My plan was to copy all the settings i can over, and just see how it goes.....but that scares the crap outta me. I asked this question in the evo ecuflash forum, hoping someone will give us some good advice (umm...roadspike or senate, or maybe even a tephra god)
