From 5-6 PSI to 10-12 PSI

Hey yall, i need some reccomendations (sp?? lol) on what to upgrade in order for me to be at 10-12 PSI. I know i need injectors, what else should i get? I know JRR was on stock everything besides injectors at 15PSI, and im sure the lancer engine with a good tune CAN handle this, however with stock rods, its like kinda a shakey thought.

What are you guys doing now (those of you that are currently 10-12 PSI) I know i want to get head studs, but do i need anything else?

Ya or no- Head studs?
Ya or no- Head Gasket?
Ya or no- Upgraded FPR?
Ya or no- Bigger fuel pump?
Ya or no- Evo/ 501 MAF?

Again im looking for what is NEEDED and not what is "safety reccomended" idk its different for everyone, i see ppl getting away with 10 PSI with only injectors, then i see ppl with fuel pump, injectors, head studs, FPR, etc at 10 PSI, just trying to get some opinions here, Thanks guys!

Ya or no- Head studs? - YES, your head will lift and its a simple fix

Ya or no- Head Gasket? - NO OEM IS FIND "im using the oem gasket for my new motor "not reusing but buying a new one"

Ya or no- Upgraded FPR? - im using the stock one so NO

Ya or no- Bigger fuel pump? I would I have a 190lph eclipse gsx pump you can buy off me that will cover your psi rating, Im going to get an walbro 255 pump so I can run more boost for my new motor "15-19 psi"

Ya or no- Evo/ 501 MAF? - Get the Evo 399 maf, makes tuning so much easier since it meant for higher boost levels anyways

pretty much this what most people have, except the fuel pump, majority of the guys here are running a stock fpr because of low boost, or a 255 walbro either way is ok but if your running more boost I would get a 190 or a 255. But im selling mine for 50 shipped if you want it and its a direct fit. Im still wondering if I need a double pumper because of what demon said on his thread.

If you want it let me know

I completely agree with steven suggestions. Do not change out the FPR this is only for those using a piggyback. Our stock fpr works just fine as long ar your tuning with ecuflash. I would say just go with a 255 I got one brand new off a guy for $60 shipped and its easy drop in (with a little shaving) or just buy stevens. Definately get the 399 IMO. Although didnt I read you were going SD? Dunno why Hornstar had so much issues tuning with his. It took me a little while only to realize stock evo scaling and smoothing was the ticket with this maf and our engine. If you havent already and are feeling froggy pull your intake manifold and do a portmatch job as shown in the how to section I think that coupled with the 399 really helped my engine breathe (cant spell at the moment :\) at all rpms especially up top but down low too. As steven stated and senate has stated in the past the stock HG will hold 20 psi easy with quality headstuds.

Hope that helps bro

Thanks for the info! Ill deff have to do the port work on the intake mani, something to do in the spring tho, its too cold now! so ill plan on buying a new OEM head gasket, Head studs, a 255 fuel pump, and a 399 MAF (incase i dont go SD in time, ill atleast have a good MAF) Ill use the evo scaling and compensation tables like yu have suggested. Thanks!

15 is unbelievable, I went yesterday and I swear I could feel the fron of my car start to lift up a little because of the power. But its not on a constant basis which sucks. My first time going 10 psi I could hear the turbo make a whine noise when it reached its peak. your first time will be rememberable trust me its sick

Hey mitsu I got a 02-03 intake mani as well that you can do the port job to that way you don't have to take yours off and just swap them later on.

I bought a 255 pump so that when I decide to bump the PSI I will already have it. I am also getting 440cc injectors for the same thing as well as studs.

I know I'm start off at about 5 PSI and then go up so I'm buying everything now that way it is in place and I can just bump it up.

Its a lot of fun for sure I took a buddy for a ride yesterday. He's the muscle car type but the look on his face was priceless as his head hit the headrest when I stabbed the throttle going uphill even. He just smiled and nodded. He approved lol

Hey bro you won't be able to.bigger on the downpipe I have a 3" that won't fit. Your only options is to.get it tapped which leaves a big dent in it, or get one made. As for the whistle most guys run straight pipe or they have a bigger turbo
