05 turbo help clutch slave

ok i know im supposed to go the rrm way with an external wastegate on the 04 and up but for the prices i decided to go a different way. i have an evo megan manifold and the clutch slave sits right in front of the turbo intake.

I read here https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/la...modifying.html that it can be moved.

The guy didnt have any pictures in that thread and hasnt been on in a while so i was wondering if anyone knew where he moved it to and what not.

you have 2 options...

first option would be to go the easy route and get either the rrm manifold or a custom manifold. this would push the turbo out a lil further so that it would clear the slave cylinder.

the second option would be to swap out your 05 tranny with an 02-03 tranny. the 02-03 tranny's have an internal slave cylinder where as the 04's and up have an external slave cylinder.

as far as i know those are the only options you have.

and on the megan manifold that you have, do you already have a 4g94 flange welded on the 4g63 flange? if you dont then dont wast your time. the whole point of an equal length tubular manifold is to improve exhaust flow to the turbo. since the runners on the 4g63 mainifold dont line up perfectly with the exhaust ports on the 4g94, your just going to be blocking off some of the exhaust flow. its really a crappy way to make a manifold. youd be better off selling that mani to an evo guy and buying the correct manifold.

the manifold has re drilled holes to fit the lancer. not a welded on flange. also the runners have been ported out to accommodate the exhaust ports on the engine.

If you read that thread it says the man had made a custom mount. and i was wondering if anyone knew what it looked like. I plan to make one my self but was wondering which direction to move the slave.

well if i remember correctly the evo slave is 180 of the 04-06 lancer slave but i dont know for sure if the release fork will work or not.

i will tell you this from my exerience.....save the money that you would spend on a rrm mani or modifying a megan and just get a custom one done that accommodates the 04-06 slave. much better quality and it will work......

Yeah I know that's what I should do but its a lot of money which is always a problem. And yeah I know your rrm mani cracked.. sucky... but I was just thinking maybe I could rotate it 90 degrees and make a mount so it sits on its side.

regardless of what the thread "says", i dont believe it till i see it.. ive never once seen anyone "re-locate" a slave cylinder. as for the runners being ported out to accommodate the exhaust ports, it is impossible! theres no way. to port them enough you would literally have to grind all the way through the runners. there would be no material left. and even if they were ported out a bunch, then you just got yourself a really weak manifold that IS GOING TO CRACK. a welded on flange would be a better way to go. but still a crappy way to go none the less. Im not trying to sh*t in your cereal by any means, but do some research on rigging up a g63 mani on a g94 and you will find the same story every time.

I know it more expensive to go with the custom mani, but keep in mind the most important saying in history........ YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR..

do you remember this pic? this is what happens when you try to get an evo 8 turbo with an 04-06 slave......

im not totally sure that what your trying to do is even feasable.......

get a custom mani from a reputable shop, that way if it does crack, then they will fix it, unless their a shady shop. i can almost guarentee you that if you buy like an rrm or speedcorps mani, and it cracks, good luck getting anybody local to weld it......

^^ exactly.. U will save Alot of time and headache by spending more money at once instead of over time.

buy once is always cheaper...

Go search honda forums for peopleing buying crappy turbo manifolds and parts, people learn quickly when there cheap 2k turbo kitbreaks and end up spending another 3k on quality parts just to keep the car running.

do whatever u want.. But Quality Materials being used in Hand built pieces are 100x better then the chineese 'stainless' steel used in most garbage manifolds out on the market today.. and theres nothing Quality being Built/manufactured for Our 4g94 motors.. NOTHING!

find a local fabricator that has done good work, and suck up the bill. If all u get is a turbo manifold and downpipe.. ur lookin at 1000-1200. shop around. u have plenty of working space. and most shops need the work. and it should take them 2 working days to complete. (maybe 1-2 business weeks depending on how busy they are and how they do there work)

I wouldnt spend that much on my lancer. if i was going to buy the highest quality of everything i might as well just save myself the trouble and buy a new car. It doesn't make sense to me to put more money into the car then what you paid for it.
