Pete's 03 Lancer RRM turbo built (your input is appreciated)

Hey guys,
I never thought this would happen but I got a good deal and decided to go turbo. I'm starting the install this week. I want to first use the FMU and then learn how to tune to go with bigger injectors, etc.

Here is what I have so far:

STAGE 1 (5psi, no tune):

                    Stage 2 (7psi, tuned):

                            Still need to buy:

when you hit your "stage 2", you really wont need the fmu...regardless you will need to tune it...its all just a game of chance when the rods will go, so be careful

evo battery tray will work, but relocating to the trunk is much better
your stock radiator has a built in transmission cooler (only A/T have them)
you dont need a turbo timer cause its water cooled
yes you should upgrade your downpipe. i dont think the evo downpipe will fit the RRM kit without havin your flanges swapped to fit. highflow cat is also a good upgrade or just a testpipe.

                                                Thanks in advance,

Yea bro he's right tuning is the key thing to make your actual build successful. I tuned everyday to get my car where its at. Even though I'm taking a big risk but only take risk of you can back it up I have a built motor so no worries there

Yeah I'm still reading on the forums to learn how to tune so for the moment I'll just run the FMU with 5 psi.

How do you guys log? Do you go to the drag? I heard you need a perfectly flat and smooth (no bumps) road in order to get good readings other than on a dyno.

                                                DAY 1: Time spent = 4 hours

Ok so we started today and got disrupted a couple of times but we managed to install partially the fuel pump, remove the radiator, manifold and downpipe as well as the intake.

My issue with the fuel pump is that I cannot close back the pump assembly in the tank (I did not try to screw it back, but there was a big gap). I also broke 2 bolts. Should I try to screw it and force it or should I get an extra rubber seal/gasket from the dealer?

Here are some pics of my install:

                                                Car looks new...

Until you get to the fuel pump! No idea yet how to seal it back with the gap:

                                                Fuel pump assembly:

Engine bay, before turbo install (I did an engine shampoo before install):

Intake removed (ok I know, no big deal...)

Engine bay after radiator + exhaust manifold removal:

Front of car (I'm keeping the crash bar and going for a smaller FMIC, safety 1st:

It looks like the stock 02 sensor won't be long enough to plug into the new manifold and I heard in Steven's turbo thread that you CANNOT extend it from anywhere close to the harness it has to be done on the other side of the firewall, near the ECU. Why? they just seem like regular copper wires to me...

                                                Cannot be extended anywhere here?

                                                Or there?

Huh? That o2 sensor should reach. You sure there is no clip holding it in place?

I tried really quick but I recall seeing this in the threads so I guess I took it for granted! I'll try again.

you can't extend it from the 02 sensor to the harness but you can extend it from the harness (first picture you have) or you can get a 02 sensor extender. If you look in my thread green bandit posted a link to one.

I'm going to get me one of those extenders but for now I just extended the wires.
