Turbocharing your lancer "Custom Kit"

Thinking about making a sticky for this, We have had a few turbo lancers already join the community and we lost a few due to accidents which is the number one cause that I have seen lately especially with mine...

Anyways If any of the people here want to chip in that have done the turbocharging on thier lancer feel free. So I will start on this tomorrow afternoon with some pics and stuff. The other ones seems a little outdated and all the info is jumbled together. Plus we are always finding out new and efficient ways to make the building process better

let me also add please do not comment unless you know what your doing. Heres how to continue on. I left off for bumper removal which will lead up to your radiator being removed. Its going to be like the lancer picture game with pics. Then you leave off where you don't want to type. For example you finished removing the bumper, next will be check your turbo list. Post up your list and type any info you want. Remember this will make it easier for people to understand besides asking questions our forced induction page is nothing buy how tos. We need to eliminate those to make room for new threads for people wanting to build.

Thanks for your cooperation

So your looking to putting a turbo on your lancer, SAWEET ok well first of all read this entire thread and it will guide you step by step there are too many questions regarding this info that has been posted on almost 3-5 threads by people that have done this kit and they are all almost identical setups

Prepping your lancer

Make sure you drain every fluid in your vehicle it makes things so much easier. Do not Drain tranny fluid. So you thinking how in the world do I drain the fluids well here is how.

Oil - There is a small bolt I think the size is a 16mm socket. Crank the bolt loose remember lefty loosey righty tighty. Do not undo the bolt all the way. Get your oil drain bucket under the the bolt so the oil drains freely. Once you have the bolt almost out use your hand to turn the bolt out so you don't drop it in the oil. If you do good luck finding it and you will get more dirty.

Oil filter, after letting your oil drain from the pan next go to the oil filter you will need gloves. Next grab the same bucket after it has stopped dripping and turn the filter to the left due to the term coined above. Oil will start dripping so be quick. Once the filter is off oil will start pouring out but not alot of it.

Now that you have your oil drained next we go to the radiator fluid

Underneath the radiator should be a cone shaped hole that will allow you to drain your fluid. Grab some small pliers and turn it to open it, make sure you grab a new bucket you can't mix oil and coolant otherwise you can't dispose it.

Once you turn the knob above the cone fluid will pour out. After it is done pouring You will need to move on to your big hose towards the bottom of the radiator undo the tab holding it and slowly pull the hose out there will be alot of fluid leaking out so be quick with your bucket and catch what leaks out.

next undo your top hose near your stock exhaust headers grab a small cup just in case if all your fluid hasn't been drained out.

Congratulations you just drained your Fluids in your car. Now we continue on to removing the front bumper and still prepare on removing everything to make your install easier and more effiecient.

Ok so now the basics are done its time to start removing parts to make way for your new parts

I started off with the exhaust first because it made the install twice as easier

Make sure your car is on a lift or supports and triple check that everything is secure, becuase 2700 pounds will crush you in a heartbeat

Go under the chassis and remove the 2 small bolts connect to the hanger these are eiher 10mm or 12mm

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...DSC02953-1.jpg

next you want to unbolt the exhaust bolts so you can get your evo 8 downpipe under the chassis, these are either 14mm or 16mm sockets. its just 2 bolts in the previous picture that connects the piping together.

Once you got the bolts undoneslide your exhaust out the back of the car since its on a stand it should be easier to slide out that way.

Now slide out your stock exhaust and you will be done

Now getting your headers off, I think this is held on by 10mm nuts and a 12mm nuts, its simple undo all the nuts, the last nut you will have an issue with is the far left near the power steering pump, if you can not get that out just take off the pump its held on by 4 bolts and you will be able to get it off, by you undoing the power steering pump you will have no issues with leaks

Take off your headers

Now you should have a bare motor with no exhaust of any sort, what I reccomend is putting the headers with the turbo on so you don't have to support the weight. be careful with rubbing against your radiator if you put a hole in it you will have to buy a new one.

MAKE SURE YOU GRIND DOWN THE NUB OF YOUR TURBO SO IT DOESNT BURN YOUR WATER PIPE!!!

The headers bolt on the same way as the stock manifold so that will be very easy

next put your down pipe on with the 2 bolt screws to the O2 housing and connect the bolts to the exhaust hanger on your downpipe, keep a little tension on the O2 housing bolts because if you have them tight something will break.

Next I would install your injectors

Im salty You did it all in one post. I know I said I was going to help you do it but I got lazy. How about this?

Pick back up where you were draining out the fluids and Ill shoot the pics and add some. I have a whole write up on how to remove headers and some nice install pics of my build. Lets do that because you have to admit there is a little more detail to it than that.
