track times

my friend (performance mechanic) and i just installed a huge 36inch wide intercooler for my t25 turbo. the increase in horsepower was suprising. there was a huge improvement. i did some lap times before and after (now) approximately 1 mile above sealevel (denver) :

10/9/03 (no engine mods, average score)
0-60 in 11.85
quarter mile in 18.45@72.3mph

1/1/04 (now, average score)
0-60 in 7.88
quarter mile in 15.83@89.5mph

the z28 cameros run mid 15's at the loca race track so i'm pretty competitive now.

i estimate that i'm running approximately 240 HP.

in my next phase (III), i am putting in RPW pistons, rods, turbo cam, and boring out the fuel injectors to get more fuel. then i can turn up the boost. i'm told the max boost the t25 can put out is 18psi. turing it up to 14 should put me over 300HP.

18.45@ 72mph stock? are you automatic. when I was stock I ran 16.8 @81 mph. Now with intake, header, test pipe, and exhaust I'm down to a 16.2

u guys, hes at 1+mile elevation...theres a 'conversion' of what he would of ran at sea level, a lot less air density up there..thast why the football players all have oxygen masks etc

Not in an auto, with those Mods you'll be lucky to break into the 16's

elevation

i have a 5-speed stick. i'm sure there's some who are faster and slower than me on the shifting.
yea. i heard it's something like 1 second less if you run up here.
keeping that in mind, i should be able to run about 14.8 at sea level.
yea, alot of athletes train up here because there's less oxygen so it gives them a harder workout. when i first moved here i was tired and out of breath all the time.
at the local race track i saw 5-speed stick cameros doing mid 15's to low 16's and c5 corvettes high 14's to low 15's. anyone have the exact conversion factor?

Somehow I think your estimate of 240 HP is a bit much, unless you mean HP at the flywheel.

I would say that, even at your elevation, your guesses are a little high. Especially for a T-25... you are more around 200 at the flywheel i'd say... your difference in weight gives you a huge advantage over the camero but the fact is the efficiency of the t-25 is not so good. You can but the upgrade kits for like 300-400 bucks i think... seen them around at some shops... conver it to a big t-28. That should be good for about 20+hp right there. I'd like to know you details for your car... maybe you could pm me and i could help you beat that camaro. Always fun to help out other turbo lancers... even custom jobs!

horsepower

yes. i'm saying i'm estimating 240 at the flywheel. remember that 36 inch intercooler is much wider, and thicker than most. i based my starting horsepower at 120HP at the flywheel because that's what most car manufacturers rate their car's power. i'm going to have it dynoed later (after stage III : RPW forged pistons, rods, turbo tuned cam, LSD, cranking boost up to 14).

Did I mention that I can save you somet trouble? Vision Imports couldn't get my pistons and rods. Just order pistons from RRM for $700, and for rods you can call Crower directly. They have the specs. Cost is around $700 as well.

Are you cheating by subtracting RT (most people do that to save face of reality)? If not, tell me your 60' times . . . those can't lie.

You're in the same range being stock againt a stock 2g and 3g eclipse. Otherwise, you have to crank somehwere in the 140-150 flywheel, manual, even w/ some elevation adjustment.

rpw

oh. i didn't know anyone had trouble getting pistons and rods from vision imports. i was avoiding RRM because they're almost twice as much (hundreds more). i think there are some other rpw resellers in the states. a little research might save me 300-400 bucks. i've bought from rrm and like their service and products but i think they're overpriced.
