want to turbo 02 lancer
want to turbo 02 lancer
alright, lets be staright forword here, im a complete turbo noob... but ive been looking around and ive come across someone who got a new car and is parting out there old one. it has an Garrett m24 ar 48 and it appears to be in good shape. it also comes with all the gauges, the piping, all the clamps, an intercooler, 2 blow off valves, one of which is oversized, and a waste gate. he wants 600 for all of it. is this a fair price and is this even possible to attach to my stock 02 lancer oz rally. the only mod in the engine bay is a Cold air intake. would the stock engine and mounts be able to run this at 7psi or somethign around there? thats all if this is possible.
sorry for my lack of knowledge, im not a gearhead but appreciate the thanks ahead of time

Lol...
Umm, I'd say no, don't buy that stuff. Easiest things to attach to a lancer are the evo8's 16g turbo, or the evo3's 16g turbo, or the t25 or 28. The thing is, don't buy anything until you do some research and planning. Read each of the turbo threads, and know that it's going to take research or money. Any saving you get on a turbo is going to be offset by having to pay someone an arm and a leg to make a custom exhaust manifold....buy something that already has an exhaust mani "mass produced" for it.
you can run 5-15psi basically on the stock engine. 12 seems to be the sort of upper safe limit, on a really good/solid tune. upwards of that starts to be really risky imo, even though no one has blown an engine lately. The adoption of ecuflash as the tuning standard really seems to be making it safer, since bandaid fixes like FMU's and safc's aren't being used quite so much anymore.

right idea, but the price seems too high. People here upgrade them all the time, so they go pretty cheap. Every so often someone gets a blown one though...pretty ****ty thing for the seller to do if you ask me. Anyway, that's part of buying used stuff.
Still, make sure you are "in it" and are willing to go all the way before you buy anything. Know that you will end up spending about 2k on parts if you are frugal like me....but you'll spend more if you need any work done, or need help installing, so be ready for it.
Also...you'll need to pay someone to tune or learn to tune. That's where about half the research is.
Also Also, you want to try to buy one that comes with the "jpipe" which is the black compressor outlet pipe. If you don't get it with the turbo, then you'll end up buying one separate and that's like 50 bucks or so.

do this an you can get more money, buy the kit for 600 and then sell each individual item to make more money then what you paid for it. Then buy a custom kit like we did. Lets just reliable and very common around here
