rocker arms hitting valve cover

ok so... havent had issues till the other day.
but apparently my rocker arms are hitting my valve cover.. pulled it off today.. and its clearly has dents in it.

anyone have a clue on what i need to do?

i did some searching.. its pretty common thing in ls1's because of tiny clearance.. and compressed valve cover gasket is normally to blame. so taken that.. i did replace my gaskets and it did raise the valve cover up about 3mm's.. but did not stop the issue.

anyone else ever have an issue like this? didnt see anything on evo-m

im guessing this is just a continuation of my issue i had in november. probably the same thing that was going on when i yanked the motor last time. just didnt spend any time trying to diagnose what was wrong...

bleed your lifters again, after 03 swapped my stock motor back in it made a tapping noise that was fairly loud all lifters were stiff but redid em and seemed to fix it as hasn't come back.

was it hitting valve cover? or jsut making tick? cuz mine did make tick for first 3-5mins of idle.. then went away..

its like the rockers are OVER pressureized and lifters are higher then suppose to be.

same as evo's they are in the rocker arms above each valve spring. directions are in fsm. use diseal and in 3rd stage you fill them with diesel and leave it in.

ok well.. i did just bleed them and put them back on.. but its to late to turn on the car.. my neighbors would kill me (if u know how loud my car was u would understand)

i will check in the morning.. but im 99% sure thist will not correct my issue.. thats why i didnt bother to do it earlier.

If you can depress the lash adjuster (lifter) by hand with it out of the vehicle this is what is called a collapsed lifter and means there is still air that needs bled out. After you clean them good with deisel and fill it up they should be rock hard and unable to depress when they go back into the rocker arm.

would your upgraded camshaft be causing the problem?

The rockers sense imminent danger and are trying to eject. I'd be willing.to suspect the rocker spring if there were such an item? Or the roller that is on it has worn aenough to let.it "jump" far enough to smack the VC? dunno but.......

it seems to be basically every exhaust rocker. i did think it was just 1 at first, then i noticed it was obviously 2 or 3 of them... i was thinking maybe a bent valve or bad spring... but All of them doing it?... i am also having a hard time starting the car now. getting a catastrophic failure kinda kill when i fist try to turn it on.. use to do it once, then start.. now its doing it 3-4 before it starts.

aside from the noise.. car is idleing fine.. stays spot on 1200rpm..and doesnt sound like its missing or anything..

got some solid lifters today outa a mirage.. didnt even let the car idle.. 1st crank attempt i hear the same noise so i just left it off.. gunna call my builder monday morning.. see what he thinks...

im guessing i have some type of valve or spring issue.. i donno.. car idled for like 3 hours no issues.. 3rd time in boost.. same noise again. and not even high in rpm..

do we have a oil regulator thing in our block like hondas do? like between head and block.. only other thing that came to mind was maybe i damage it and head is getting to much oil presureor something like that.. i donno

You may need to give it some gas to build oil pressure after new ones in. Have to do the lash adj procedure as well.
