Lancer 04 4g94 turbo

Hi, i started building my custom turbo kit for my 04 lancer es and there is some things i don't have answers to...im going to be using a 16g6 td05hr 9.8t evo 8 turbo. I was wondering how much psi is the spring on the stock wastegate? Iv heard from different people it was 9..some say 11...some 14 psi. And i was wondering how high octane fuel i need to use on a stock internals setup at 9 psi of boost. Trying to have everything setup and ready before i start the engine and tune it. Thanks, Alex

Its too high so your gunna have to get another waste gate. You'll need to run the highest octane you can get. A lot of questions are answered in stickeys/ build threads

i'm willing to bet the misinformation is similar to the older 4G63/DSM situation, where the stock wastegate actuator is rated for like 7-8psi, but a boost solenoid (stock boost controller) bumps it up to like 11.5-12psi or something like that...for my build i used the internal wastegate, and just bought a 9psi actuator, i run 91 octane, but i have a very good tuner

if you have or can use an air compressor with a regulator that is graduated for 0-15psi (most small portables are not accurate below 20psi) you can set the regulator to 5psi, and connect a vacuum hose from an air duster to the wastegate and slowly increase pressure till it opens.

you still find a mix of answers cause people post wastegate pressure, and manifold pressure (pressure as a result of boost solenoid) etc. OP, i would just get an aftermarket adjustable actuator if you're worried about it.

Yea that's what i was thinking of doing with the compressor stuff....but to know the spring rate the wga has to be completely (100%) opened to know how much psi is the spring right?

I saw they sell wga springs at some places...can you change the spring only or there is no way to open up your stock wga to change it? thanks
