Coil problems at high load
Coil problems at high load
I'm posting this for a friend, the car is a lancer OZ with a custom turbo set up. Block is built, was running a gt28rs, now a precision 3231E with 22 pounds of boost.
The problem is that at high load (WOT) and high RPM, sometimes in 4th, sometimes in 5th, the car just turns off, the coils make a clicking sound and the car shuts off, he has to turn key off and on again and the car will keep going like nothing happened.
It is a random problem, not always happens. It happened with only 10 psi, and also with 22 psi. The EGT's are fine (1550 F max), temperature is fine (safe), AFR's good, there is no knock since he disconnected the sensor, new colder plugs gapped correctly, etc etc.
We have no clue why this is happening, any ideas? or what to check?
Thanks for the help
