Do what you can afford. Before all else comes your budget. Hell, maybe you'd be better off having 2g's for drugs and hookers and only spend $500 on the car.

And yes, of course I'm kidding about drugs and hookers. I meant butterflies and daffodils.

I've got a quesiton. I eventually would like to put a turbo on my ES 2003 but as for most people cost is a huge issue.

So in the meantime I've been trying to come up with modifications that will be compatible with a turbo.

I've seen a alot of people talking about the RRM piggyback unit. I've been thinking about getting it but wont it become useless if I install a turbo.

What other mods(intake, exhaust, headers, ect..) would be useful to have and which ones would I just have to remove in favor of a turbo?

well if you want complimentary mods do exhaust, header, plug wires, intake, and the piggy back can be re-flashed by RRM to allow for turbo applications (aslong as it is their turbo kit as they will only do it for theirs because they understand the fuel needed on their kit).

Addeundum:

Do not buy a header unless you plan on buying a RRM header and a RRM turbo kit. Otherwise, you will be replacing it.

yeah im 'adding up' to my turbo that will happen this summer.

just put an air/fuel gauge in today, by the end of the month ill have an ebay sri in, and a 2.5" cat-back, than a hi-flo cat, at which point i may install an EGT gauge. than im gonna get a walbro fuel pump and rising rate fpr, and a s-afc. than new injectors(possibly 4g64 depending on hobies adventures...thanks hobie, but i might beat u ) than ill be goin ot my bros....so ill have the electronics and gauges and fuel all done...than just need to pipe in the turbo and intercooler and were done. woo hoo...a/f ratio gauges rock to! lol

k im done..just get the basics U NEED that are little things u can do now, than get the turbo my bro can 'custom pipe' things and has the hook up with DSM people in Vegas...so uh...i get everything i need cheap...so its gonna cost me around $1k to...be INTERCOOLED TURBO!! and some won't believe me...but its true...i've ran the prices through again and again, and its all around 1000-1200(with s-afc) haha!

and safc wont let you add more fuel only take it away so you may want to reconsider that as your fuel management.

listen to everyone who is telling you about unexpected troubles, i would say try to have 600-1,000$ liquid cash available as backup when you are turboing, i know this very well, i blew my engine once, and its currently blown again but being held together by a mere forged ring, so just remember, it can cost you 2500 to slap on a turbo kit, but then cost you $700 for pistons and about 600-1,000 to fix a blown engine, so you would have been better off getting a turbo kit that is proven

It's not like you're on a grocery forum trying to pick out bread. There's really only 2 kits out there that are actually used. RRM and RPW. RRM certainly has the larger market share.

Im looking into getting a turbo myself for my lil 2005 Automatic ES. So far from what I've read and researched, I don't want to boost the PSI on any turbo kit without reinforcing alot of the major hardware that the turbo will affect (Pistons and Rods, especially). Anyone else have any heads up stuff to look out for? Last thing I need now is to shell out $700+ for something that I could've prevented.

Turbo Kit - Garrett T25BB Extreme (Had to cut pipes to fit the swing of the '05 design)
