What rom are you running? Would you mind sharing it? That is unless you've paid someone to tune it. I've found that roads pikes big maps for the automatic lancers 04-06 works for my rom even though my car is a manual transmission.

I'm using the evo 9 tephra rom but that only works for 04-06 lancers what year is yours?

My car is a 06 es lancer. It's a manual transmission too. A few years ago I was ballsy enough to flash the big maps for the 04-06 automatics to my lancer. I didn't know the tephra rooms for the evo 9 were the same size rom for us. I just read your tuning post. Do you mind sharing your rom? There's only a handful of us 04-06 guys boosting.

For sure man what are you using though? i have 440cc injectors, 255lph fuel pump and evo maf...if you have all of that you can pm me il send it to you and you can give it a try if you want! The evo 9 rom runs ALOT better than the big map is what i noticed when i tuned mine.

Well I'm still stock for now. I'm logging the current ecu stuff. Is there anything I should log now while I'm still stock? I'll be using a evo maf and 440's eventually. I do have both sitting in a box. I'll need to get the injectors cleaned and flow tested before installing them. I'm just looking for a good starting point for my car. Anything to get my car a few blocks away to the exhaust shop until I can tune it. I'm thinking about going with the evo x fuel pump tho. I hear it's a direct swap. Although I do have a second stock fuel pump here that I can modify to fit the walbro. I'll pm you my email address man.

Little update it's been a while! I went on the dyno for the first time on 15 psi and the car made 234 whp/ 244 wtrq!

**** yeah man, numbers are pretty good...makes me wonder what my 2.4L was making at 18psi shortly before it exploded

AFR's look pretty solid. that's about right depending on the turbo...what kind of fuel did you use?

Im running 94 octane with a safe tune since i cant get the knock sensor dialed in it's seeing knock counts but there's no real knock....We put some timing up in the 5k+ rpm range and the knock counts were the same even with 2-3 degres more somehow so that's annoying.

try retarding the timing by the same slightly before that rpm range...and make sure your timing curve is fairly smooth. what is the AFR, boost pressure, load and timing advance when it knocks? if the knock sensor was erroneously detecting knock, I feel it would happen all over the place, not only in that one little place...

I went on the dyno with a 15 years experienced guy and we were gaining good numbers with every counts of timing we put in....usually the engine knocks when u gain less or stop gaining power from adding timing in a specific range. My timing curve is good and smooth im 100% positive that the problem is the knock sensor scalings since its an evo map and a OZ engine/Knock sensor. Probably coming from vibrations the engine is making at that rpm range because the knock counts stay the same +- even with more or less timing.

yeah, that could be it...I would try a different sensor. It's unsettling seeing knock, and not being sure if it's there or not...usually knock sensors are pretty good at detecting what's knock and what isn't...

when the knock is detected, does the ECU pull timing on its own?
