Question Please explain this for me about turbos

since i've joined the lancer community and fell in love with the evo, and the regular lancers i've read a lot of stuff on the turbos and felt what it does in an evo, when the gas is punched you launch like freaking rocket and it feels great, really is an amazing feeling

now when i look at the rrm, rmr, turbo stuff, i sit and wonder, how would that add to the performance of my oz lancer, i mean would it be the same effect as when i sit in my friends evo

how exactly does it work? i have an idea but still confused, i think it pushes cold air into engine and somehow you go faster. now i've looked at dyno charts with mild confusing trying to figure out if i drop 4 grand when i punch it in 1/2 gear will i have to hold on for dear life?

anywho, someone please help me out with this, and if anyone in va, tn, sc, ga, has a turbo in their oz, i would love to drive there and feel the performance gain before i drop the cash in it

thanks for the help

The difference depends upon the lbs of boost you're running. Is it noticable? Absolutely. Is it worth it? Find someone with a turbocharged Lancer to give you a ride and decide for yourself.

That's probably my most frequently posted link. Great article for the basics. Enjoy.

Please also make note that the Lancer seems to love a little boost (probably due to its high compression). It's not abnormal to see more than 50% HP gains at the wheels running only 5lbs (really the bare minimum) of boost.

i think as most naturalist car enthusiasts will agree, its not making a car fast that is what its all about, if you want a fast car, by all measn, buy a fast car. what tuning is about for the naturalists, NATURALISTS mind you, is making a car fast-er. that is, taking a car from the factory, undertsanding how it works, and using knowledge and experience to improve it. im not trying to say you or anyonr else is the 'fast and furious' crowd, but they are there, and all they seem to be comncerned with is their image. you have to decide what type of car enthusiast you are and that will help you decide what mods you will put into your car. very few people are 100% F&F and very few people are 100% naturalist, most are somewhere in between. find what suits you best, and more often than not, what other people think may contrast with what you believe. dont make a decision based on what others think unless it is a more technical opinion. my advice is take everything in and make the final decision for yourself. ok ill step down from the pulpit now. phew just wrote pathos of the car enthusiast lol.

they are now also showing Dyno results that are similar to an Evo at the wheels for a regular Lancer with 9 psi and proper tuning. So if you want to know if your car will feel like an Evo...a little, but not EXACTLY. There is always the AWD factor, but you will be very content with your cars performance in the end. But also, just bolting on a turbo isnt recommended for someone with little or no knowledge on how they work and what they do to a car. Most cars that boost when they werent designed to do so from the factory, need to remain under constant supervision. Do a LOT of homework before you spend the $$$...IMO
