I am a little biased here in my opinion and I will probably get flamed for this. Anyways, here goes.

If you are looking in the Mitsu family at cheap cars that can be made fast, like the Lancer, I would check out the Mirage for one reason primarily, weight. Unless you have a family and what not, there is no need for a 3000+ lb car, where you can have the same speed in a 2350 lb car. Sorry Lancer brothers, but I like light cars with speed like the Mirage.

Dont get me wrong, Lancers are nice cars but in the 1/4 there is only so fast you can make the engine before you have to sacrifice other things to lower your times. And the first thing most people sacrifice is weight.

um just wanna add sumthin' .......lancers are NOT 3000+ LBS dumbass.... it actually is only 2700 for mt and 2744 for at.... unless of course you've got a 300+lbs driver then yeah, it'd be 3000+ lbs....

and nope... they don't have the same speed or hp whatsoever..... think b4 u speak ur just makin urself look stupid..

OK guys... the hostilities are super high here.

Lancers can be fast... i've proven that and many others on here are backing that more and more everyday. In reality the lancer on an base(stage1) RRM intercooled kit should be low 14's all day long. With slicks you should be in the 13's if your skills are good. If you go STAGE 2 RRM then you'll be in the 13's easy on street tires. How low and/or 12's has yet to be seen except by the Drag car which is fully gutted out. I'll be hitting up the track soon to see how well i can get it in on some drag radials or toyo proxies... depends if i can get the radials in time. Anyway, the proof and times are out there for the lancer. Just do a search.

As for the speed limiter... the manual does not have one. Even i thought it did until we cracked the ecu and found no set parameters there. Thus you can go as fast as the motor will take you. I know i've went well past the 130 mark without ever feeling a loss or stop due to a limiter.

Lol no hostilities here Boe. I was just stating my opinion and I kind of knew that some person who would attack me unnecessarily. Anyways, anyone who knows me knows that I dont get into flame wars with the ignorant.

Anyways, to address those issues that skidd12 talked about, I would love to sacrifice my mirage down a cliff. unfortunately, the insurance company would not reimburse me half the money I have into the motor so sorry bro, I have to dash your hopes. As for mirage engines producing more HP than a lancer, that is like saying that you will eat more food than I will. It all depends on how hungry I am, when last I ate etc. Similarly, a turbocharged mirage or lancer's output will depend on mods, turbo choice, what is in the motor etc.

As for the weight comment, those are the weights I got from a weigh station when I got my car weighed and an OZ rally got weighed. Sorry if you dont like these numbers. And nowhere did I say they were the same speed or HP, or that the mirage was better. YOU need to read before you post lol.... not a flame bro, just opening up your eyes. And I dont mind looking stupid. Hope you think I am stupid as I blow by you.

Anyways, back to being objective here. I have no doubt that Lancers can be fast. Hell, I have seen a few around here. But the reason that we have an Eclipse powered Mirage running high 10s on 93 octane with full interior is merely the point I am trying to convey. If you want all out speed, starting out with less weight will only be advantageous.

Once again, for those of you that might misunderstand me, I am not advocating one car is better than the other, just stating my OPINION.

Take it to the ring guys...

Seriously though... this has been covered before... lancer owners will upgrade their car because that is what they want/take pride in doing. Bringing other cars into things is really not a big deal unless you start analyzing a lancer owners decisions. Just let lancers be lancers, evos be evos, and mirages be.... well you get the point right. Now before we get out of hand lets just relax and get back to the topic k. to all!!
