Hidden Power?
Hey guys, I currently have the non-ic RRM turbo kit with the RRM header and RRM test-pipe.. i had a massive boost-leak a few weeks ago.. so when i replaced the gasket i also switched the header.. However, ever since then it just feels like a lost a **** load of torque/power.. and it also feels like i do not spool as fast as i used to..
currently my boost gauge reads
5psi at 4000rpm on 1st
5psi at 3500rpm on 2nd
5psi at 3200rpm on 3rd..
for those with a similar set up could i have a massive boost leak? air filter/intake problem? do i have a lot of power locked up due ot the fact that i don't have a cat-back system? Please let me know..
thanks..

when u say that you replaced the header do you mean that you replaced the rrm one with the stock one or you just put the rrm one on. so what im saying is, it feels weaker with the rrm over stock or no?
Did you replace the header gasket? You say you replaced a gasket..which one? I just replaced the gasket between the up and down pipe, it blew out and I had same thing, boost loss, stumbling idle, but I could definately hear it...
Start the car cold and put your hand near all the gaskets to see if you can feel any leaks...

An exhaust leak will still spool the turbine, it just does it slower. Unless it' a serious exhaust leak it shouldn't prevent you from hitting full boost. On the other hande even a small boost leak ccan prevent you from hitting full boost. It's one thing to leak exhaust, but leaking compressed air means you lose all the pressure you've build fighting to build up.

With the manifold leak, I was still able to drive because the Turbo would overcompensate for the leak...
When I had my wastegate leak, I couldn't create more than 1lb of boost. It all depends where the leak is as to how much boost you will be able to make. Put it up on a lift if you have access to one, or get it off the ground and on some jack stands and get under there and take a look. Might as well tighten down all your hose clamps and check all vacuum hoses while you are at it. Good luck!
I had an exhaust leak and drove fine. All it means is your turbine won't spool right (if it's before the turbo). Unless yours was leaking a WHOLE LOT (which is why I prefaced my comment with "unless it's a serious exhaust leak") there's no reason it shouldn't still be able to spin the compressor wheel and allow air to flow through the intake side. If your leak was after the turbine...well...then basically you're just polluting.
Are you certain you didn't have a vac leak at the time too?
