what is directly below the Lancer dash?

Hi all, I maybe need to go ask a Mitsubishi service person this question, but maybe you all will know. I have quite the multimedia Lancer going on right now.

PC, Xenarc 7" LCD, DVD, GPS, all that jazz. I drove to California from Mississippi, so I had to enjoy my ride.

My initial idea for mounting my screen was to cut a hole in the dash in the middle, above the vents and hazard light, just the size of my screen. I was going to mount the screen upside down and make it so that it would lie flush when closed, but when I wanted to watch TV or whatever, i'd just flip it up.

I was going to try and take the dash apart myself, but decided to ask the question first, so I didn't waste time if it wasn't doable in the first place.

I have the screen currently mounted where the cubby-hole thing was, above the lighter and ashtry. I removed the small storage space and added my own housing bracket for the screen.

You can check out pics here:

Thanks everyone,

Clayton

The AC ducting may be right there. Remember there are front vents there and defogger vents along the front. Just a word of caution that there may be something there. I really can't say for certain though.

Thanks guys....does anyone know the correct procedure for taking the dash off? I can handle the radio, though I did it a little differently than posted in the "how-to" thread.

Thanks again

I have a celeron 533 with 128 MB RAM, and a 30 gig drive. I have a network card in it, so that I can transfer songs/games to and from my DSL at home.

It fits directly under the driver side seat. The DVD player (PC) is placed inside the back seat, i cut a hole and took out the padding and added a steel frame so the DVD couldn't be crushed. Works nicely.

The GPS works great, except in LA...too much interference I guess. Sucks....

Thanks guys
