There is a post detailing the replacement of your head unit... It clearly outlines what to do to get it out... Relocating down below may take a little work, but I'm sure it can be done with the proper length wiring harnesses and some patience.
dude..it's easy as hell to move it down there..all you do it literally take it out..move the wires and plug it back in. the main there i think everyone is concerned with is the lower din part # and where to acquire the piece. i myself have plans on doing this, when i get the money
i did it...its easy...jus have to get the CD changer option part for the lancer..i just mine out because i did not know od this option...you do not have to lengthen the wires there is enough in the stock wiring to reach down there.
I have a question for you lancer owners. since the evo is supposed to have the same interior as us lancer, I assume it will look like that picture posed above. My question is, if I wanted to mount a screen in the bottom cubbyhole for a CAMP system, would there be enough room between the face of the dash and the shift lever for the screen to be able to slide out of the slot and swivel up? it seems like a close call, or that you'd have to shift into 2nd, 4th or reverse simply to pull out the screen... but i'm only going off pictures. what do you real owners think?
its really easy to do this actually - - i got the trim piece at the dealer for about 75 bucks . . and i got a pioneer 7400 cd player . . . i just have to install everything now - - - im putting my new radio in the bottom and putting a couple gauges (a/f ratio and voltmeter from autometer (lunar series) for now) up top where the stock radio is now . . . ill take pics after i get it all put in . .whenever that happens

..that kontradiction's car.. he bought everything from the modern image lancer, and got it put on his car
