mp3 player install

I've searched the forum and i havent been able to find any helpful information on this subject. Im planning on getting a Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox Zen - 30GB because i can get a really good deal on one. A friend of mine was telling me that its possible to hook your mp3 player to your amp or to the RCA jacks on the back of your cd player. i still have the stock head unit but i got an RCA adapter on it to hook up my amp. is it really possible to hook it up to either of these to get it to work. or has anybody found a good way to go about this

with the stock head unit...the only easy way would be to use an fm modulator. since the head unit doesnt have any auxillary input or rca inputs, you have no way of putting any signal into the head unit besides the fm modulator (wireless or hard-wired)

Well, if you buy a I-pod you can hook it up to a alpine head unit using their i-pod interface. Thats the only way that I know you can hook up a mp3 player to your car. They only really make things like this currently for the i-pod because the mac company is leading this whole thing and no one else has really jumped on it yet. Also, just like what Minus said, our stock head units aren't capable of hooking another type of input adapter to it.

Should be able to. Crutchfield sells them. I'm looking at the most recent catalog and there is one in there. I just don't know if they make one for the Mitsu. The company that makes them is USA SPEC. Check it out.

you can hook up any mp3 player as long as you have either an fm modulator, or an aftermarket head unit with rca inputs. you don't have to buy an i-pod and an alpine (unless you want to). pm me if you have any questions.

that ipod interface is INCREDIBLE. I hooked one up in my friends truck and the sound quality i unbelievable. Definately worth it. He got a brand new alpine deck and ipod interface for 380 shipped. Just shop around.

Some Kenwood, Sony, Pioneer, Alpine, and a few other head units have an Aux In that uses a Mini Jack instead of RCA connectors. I use my MP3 player with my Sony head unit just by having the wire run from the rear of the head unit into the cubby hole under the HVac controls. Then I just plug the MP3 player in when i am in the car. It was a simple install. Took me about 15 mins, and most of that was just getting the dash apart. Hope this helps you.
Oh, Awia (Sp?) has a head unit at WALMART (I hate that place) that has an AUX input on the face plate. Very easy to add MP3 player with that!!!

I did mine using the disc changer plug on the back of my deck. I pluged a cabel that converted the disc changer to rca and then plugged the RCA into my MP3. (of your MP3 doesnt have RCA you can get the RCA-Headphone jack aswell) I spent $60.00 (Canadian)/$48.00 (USD) at Future shop for the connectors and Its good sound. No splicing or custom work nessessary.

crutchfield has the Aiwa am/fm/cd with aux in for $139 and they give you all of the harnesses, instructions you will need along with lifetime tech support.
