Our Factory Head Units

AS you all know I managed to tie a high end audio system into my factory system, and eventually replaced all my factory speakers with the Infinty 3.56i's (I think thats the name, in a bit of a hurry to worry about it), none the less I've just purchased my iPod, and I want to tie it in as well I DONT want a modulator, and I really don't want to switch head units just yet until I can get to the point to where I can tint my windows. at any rate what I want to know is this are our head units able to control a external cd changer??? if so awesome! that means its speak mBuz anyways please post ASAP!

I forget if the stock deck has a Disc changer input or not but if it does you can buy a wire that will change from disc changer plug to RCA. Then plug the RCA's into your MP3 player. If your player doesnt have RCA inputs then also buy the RCA to headphone jack.

This should run you about $50.00 at Future shop. (Guessing on prices cause I am in Canada so its different for us)

I think it does because I remember the evo I believe has a CD changer in it, and if I'm correct both head units are the same. and I remember mine having the little port in the corner I remember asking what it was heh... but thats what I've been told that if it does then you can plug into that and put the iPod in your glove box

If it does have a changer port, you will still need a "handshake" adapter that will tell the radio something is plugged into the port so you can access that source.

icruze doesn't support mitsubhsi and its pricey as hell...just go with dension for that price

also if you really know what you are doing you can fabricate your own cd changer adapter...just get a dummy plug that will plug into your head deck and then get the wiring diagrahm.

im not trying to dig out an old thread, but i was gonna ask a similar question: "is it possible to connect a cd changer to stock head unit?". I took the radio out today and i saw a port that looks like a computer s-video or like a keyboard port. I suppose that is the disc changer port?? then did anyone find out what billace had pointed out? "If it does have a changer port, you will still need a "handshake" adapter that will tell the radio something is plugged into the port so you can access that source."

thanks a lot

I'm guessing you are talking about this radio:

And yes, this is a disk changer port. It is for the optional 6-disk changer for the Lancer.

neither one of my evo's came w/a cd changer but it does have the plug, & i do have pics for you of the back of the factory deck which is the same as the stock lancers. sorry if any are blurry, my cam is only 3 megapixel & can't compensate for multiple heights up close...

so when u hook up the cd changer u'll need to connect a cable to the black port, then the white wide one should be the electricity supply right? how about that 2 little holes on the right side in the pic? the far most right one should already be occpied by the radio antenna right? so the second one would be taken by the cd changer too????
