Subwoofer Dust Cap
Subwoofer Dust Cap
I've heard that you can use glue to put on or to fix a loose dust cap. Is it true that you can use nail polish remover to fix a loose dust cap? Something about the nail polish remover bonding the the dust cap with the cone. Any feedback on this?
Ummmm.... I wouldn't do it. Nail Polish remover is pretty much straight acetone, a really harsh solvent. On a poly cone it would probably stick the 2 together, beacause it was eating away at the cone. For my money, I'd much rather buy some dustcap glue and do it the right way. You can get it from the manufacturer, or www.partsexpress.com either way I'm pretty agains the nail polish remover idea.
Ok, the nail polish remover was probably suggested to dissolve the glue to remove the dust cap first.
Higgity is right, it contains acetone (usually) which is a solvent, not a glue. It will remove glue, residue, grease........
Remove the cap, then use GLUE to stick it back on.

Well I'm getting a lot of vibration from the dust caps on both now.. Maybe I should just take them both off and re-glue them back on. I know their not blown just seems like the dust cap is loose on both.
