switched boxes!!!
hey guys i got my custom box today had it built its ported with double chambers and it looks so nice and sounds soooooooooo much better than my sealed box! i cant even sit in my car now its so much louder! i was hiting 147db's with my old box its scary to see what it is now! im also having a custom amp rack made also that will be flush mounted in front of tha box an there will be a wall made around the box so you wont see any open space in the trunk! its gonna look nice! i will post pics as soon as its done!
ozlancerlunitic there is no mic involved! i have hit that many db's at sound contests, my system consists of two 12'' earthquake subs 1000 rms a piece 2000 max a piece and a autotek class x stealth amp a true 3000 watts! ive seen 1 sub hit almost 150db's before so anything is possible!
Um, how do you think they measure it? a MICROPHONE.....termlab or audiocontrol makes them i believe. Reason I ask is cause one reads ALOT lower than the other. 147 DB is extremely hard to believe with just 2 12's. I have friends with 3 12's and they hit that.
This system being in the lancer further makes me beleive these numbers arent true.....147 for that setup in a lancer is unrealistic....maybe 143
EDITED, Thanks for correction.

it all depends what 2 12's you have! with the right 12's you can hit high db's i have a friend that has 2 mtx 9500 who its 150 db's everytime and my subs are more power than his! also with the right box anything is possible! and the right amp! and my numbers are true!

you have the best subs and still hit low. There are so many factors that involve high SPL.
Dynamat alone adds 1-3 DB depending on application, how the subs face, what size box, whats the box made of, how much power they see.
I hate to tell you the MTX 9500 will own those earthquake subs. Post pics of your setup.
Do you know what microphone you measured 147 db on ?
wow.. what kind of microphone do you have. Most of the ones I've seen (expensive ones that are like 300 bux or more) cut out at 144dB when clipping occurs. Are you sure you weren't using a decibel meter?
sorry to say but my subs are just as good or mayb even better than the mtx 9500's and i go to sound contests all the time especially the tweeter sound comp. and im not sure what mic they use but i did hit 147dbs i plced 4th place i was beat by a guy who had 2 crystal subs and the other had 2 12'' w7 he hit 149 and the guy that won had 1 jauggernaut sub he hit 153 with 1 sub! so i know i have a good system! im not sayin its the best but its does hit 147!!! and to add that my whole car is dynamted, and i do have a good box and set up!
yeah wit certain soungs you cant even sit in my car at all! its that loud sometimes and my rear end rattles so much and i have alot of dynamat also!!!! but there is a guy that has a ford harley davidson truck with 4 15'' diamond subs and its soooo loud! but those in the chicago area if you are out on archer ave. or streets of woodfield or were ever im always out wit my car club you can check me and our rides out!
LOL none of you have any clue about SPL.
#1: audiobahn doesn't make a mic, Audiocontrol does.
#2: Termlab isn't a mic, it's pressure sensor.
#3: 147 with a pair of 12s and 3000 watts isn't that hard, and in a lancer it's not hard at all.
#4:you never play music for an SPL competition, that's the first way to tell someone who has absolutely no clue what they're doing.
#5: I've never ever seen an SPL mic that cuts out at 144, the audiocontrol is good to 180, and the new termlab is good even higher.
#6 150 on the audiocontrol is the same as a 144 on the termlab, so I can imaging a 147 on audiocontrol without much effort.
#7 earthquake subs, don't care what model, are nowhere near as good as the MTX 9500.
#8 stop spouting off when you have absolutely no clue.
