Smile ~new fiberglass enclosure~

what's up all? if anyone has checked out the ~my latest project~ thread, then you know i've been working on my 'glass work for my trunk. well...coat one of resin has finally happened. here are a few pics of it so far. *warning...it's ugly as hell right now*

pic 1 shows a test fit of the box before any 'glass work. btw, it's not as large as it looks in this pic.

pics 2-5 are obviously after the first layer of resin.

if anyone is confused about the concept of this box, see ~my latest project~ for an explanation.

Kitty hair can work wonders inside of a glass form. but it looks good, hopefully today or tomorrow I'll get pics of my finished trunk up.

thanks man. yup, kitty hair is definitely the way to go on the inside...had to use fleece for the form, but the rest will be mat/kitty hair.

can't wait to see your trunk.

first, thanks!

about the 'kitty hair'...yeah, you know...kitty hair.....

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/at...id=67432&stc=1

just hold the cat in place, pour in the resin and your set!
eventhough it is one of the best uses for a cat that i can think of...j/k

actually, it's a body filler that uses long strands of fiberglass for reinforcement and looks more like this...

thanks again. i'll be running an Eclipse 10" with a JL 250/1. the area below the sub is for my two amps and my strut bar. check my other thread (~my latest project~) for a complete rundown/explanation of my setup. who knows, maybe someday i'll actually have it all finished...then it will all make sense.

You don't really need kitty hair, just mix body filler and fiberglass matt w/f.b resin, works the same...

ahhhh...you know the old bondo/resin trick...very cool. my thoughts on using kitty hair on the inside are.....i can use kitty hair w/ or w/o fiberglass mat. given the difficult areas to reach on the inside, i thought i could get away w/ just using kitty hair w/o mat (in the really challenging parts anyway).

i will definitely be using the bondo/resin combo on at least the last coat on the outside b/c it is nice to work with and sands down great.

thanks for the suggestion though. i saw your f/g thread the other day...good stuff!
