Exclamation Engine Noise

I'm getting sick engine noise into my speakers. Can't tell when music is on, but when it is changing tracks or changing out cds it gives me some engine noise. I have quality RF power cable and av's for my amp and the power is ran on the drivers side and avs on the passenger side. Could it be my wiring harness for my deck? and yes I did use crimps. Any help is well appreciated.

EDIT: I still have my stock speakers and haven't messed with them.

you can elliminate some of that with upgraded spark plug wires. Magnecor wires are supposed to elliminate RF interference.

what kind of engine noise? is it a high pitched whine? could be alternator whine, interference fed back into the system. check your grounds, make sure you don't have any ground loops. grounding is the most important thing.

checked my ground. I moved it to the lower bolts by the little cubby because I thought getting it away from the deck would help. It did very little, but I still am having engine noise through my speakers at low volumes. sounds kinda like whiney. not sure how to fix this... errr I don't get engine noise through my subs so it can't be the deck...

use a 4 guage for my deck? ummm.... my ground is connected to the harness so I'm not sure how I'm going to get a bigger gauge in there.

EDIT: The engine noise is NOT comming out of my subs only my stock speakers which are NOT hooked up to my amp.

sounds like some sort of ground loop. i'd say either get some sort of isolation transformer to filter the power signal, or just live with it. i've heard stereos that have some alternator whine in them, it's not that annoying. if it is really buggin you, take it to a pro shop and have them check all your wiring and grounds.

Well wouldn't the ground loop be between my preamp output and the amp? I've unplugged my rca's and still had the noise while playing cd's. I haven't heard it playing the radio though I never listen to the radio so I need to check the radio as well. Maybe the digital clock is giving off something that may give me the noise? Only place I can think of taking it to is maybe best buy.

a ground loop is when you have a circuit that is grounded in two different places. is your head unit grounded already?

the most common cause of interference is improper grounding. just make sure that the place you are grounding is very clean (sand it down really good), and make sure it's actually a ground connected to your car's ground. check the lancer wiring diagram and see where else the stereo is grounded. check all the connections in your harness. make sure everything is well crimped or soldered. if you can't find the cause (which i'll admit, can be very difficult) take it to a pro shop. look some place up in your area, i wouldn't use best buy.

deffinatly try a new ground, also try running a power wire directly from the deck to the battery, just put in a fuse.. It will give your deck more juice too, always seemed to work better for me.

I had whine in my first install. Then I did a little research on pro installations, and their rule of thumb is do NOT use factory grounds. I just installed my new system yesterday, and I have no whine now. All grounds should be tied at one point on the chassis. Its called star grounding. As for the guage, I only have an 18 gauge ground from my deck, running 15 feet to the central ground in my trunk. I hope this helps you out if its not too late.

ground the radio. and of course the subs would not make a high pitched noise... the frequency respnonce on subs is usually below 2KHz. try another ground or put a filter on the antena

eh...typically your ground wire shouldnt be more than 5 ft long...i would recommend making your own ground...make sure you get a clean connection to the ground (ie sand down the spot if its painted)...if that doesnt help then maybe you should take it to a pro shop...
