Amp help please!

I searched and read the sticky walkthrough of how to hook up an amp and sub, but it doesnt have anything about how to wire the remote and rca cables from the head unit to the amp. also, is there any way to test if an amplifier is blown? i bought mine off an evom member and im not sure if it works.
thanks

bring it to your local stereo shop, they will test it for $10-$20, I would recommend getting it put in there too. I work at a shop and see people try to install stuff all the time and end up messing up a lot of stuff.

Another is right...take to a stereo to test for functionality. But once that problem is solved (hopefully good news), the RCA's are as easy as plugging up a TV and DVD player. And the remote...that you can connect to the headunit's antenna lead. Power fed to the antenna kicks in and powers up the amp to turn on as well. What amp did you get anyways???

If you are using the stock stereo, make shure you get a HI/LO converter. You woill hook the wires to the your set of rear speakers and then plug the rca's into it also.

just hook the remote wire to your blue with white stripe wire on your headunit or the solid blue wire (depending on headunit). It should say "pwr ant" or "aux pwr" with either a .1A or .3A reading on it. Or some are just the wire with no labeling. Then run it to the trunk and put it to the REM (remote) connection on the amp.

RCA's - just plug them into the line out (subwoofer out) RCA jacks on your headunit and run them to your trunk and plug them into your input jacks on your amp.

Make sure if your headunit has a subwoofer setting in the audio section that it is on.

Remote wire can be regular...what, 16 gauge is it. RCAs, I'd recommend gold-plated for starters; then the brand should well-known. (Not just Radio Shack/unless thats the quality your going for) Monster Cable is what I use for everything with good results. PS : I have a o'skool Kenwood KAC-746 that still works great. Hopefully yours will give you many years of audio, like mine.

Well, do you have a volt meter so you can test your remote lead and the ground? You will also want to check the power connection before and after the fuse and at the amp to make sure you are getting power to the amp. The remote wire from the radio should be attached to the "mem" on the kenwood amp. Most JVC radios do not have a dedicated remote turn on wire (blue/white), so you can use the ignition wire (red). Without being able to test the amp to see what reading you are getting at the amp, there really isnt much that can be done.

Best thing to do it take it to an audio shop and have them check your wiring with a multimeter and or bench test the amp.

i know that the amp is getting power, the red light is on. My head unit does have a remote cable, so i just spliced into that and the amp turns on/off with the head unit, so i doubt that those are my problem.anything else?

If the power, remote, and ground are all good then there only a couple of other things that it could be.

1. The rca's are bad (rare)
2. The outputs of the amp are no good
3. The subs are either wired incorrectly, or are blown (which would send the amp into protection mode)
