Opinions Please

What does everyone think about this HU?
I liked just about everything I saw except the 2v preouts...
Should that be much of a concern? Or is 2v okay?

Edit: I wont be running any amp off this at first... I'll have 4 infinity kappa 6.5s on it.... So will it be enough for my purposes?

Yep. It should be fine, however I have to ask... How much are you paying for it? It might behoove you to wait a bit longer, since 2003 models are coming out, and you might find a deal on a better head unit. I used to work at Best Buy, and this head unit broke all the time... Its just made kinda flimsy. That's my .02$ on the matter.

very nice answer purecoda! u took the words right off my finger tips
also for that price range if theres nothing in the 03 line up u like in that same 299.99 price range, after 03 comes out 02 goes on sale! also for that same price you can get alot better of a raido imo. let us know what u end up doing.

I may wait til 2003 models come out.... However I pay cost for these things, so waiting for the price drop isnt so much the issue as is making sure I get the best deck.

I'll be honest, I'm looking for an HU that has great sound and either a red, or colour changing display, so it matches my oz's guages (=

Yeah I'm superficial. But i'm looking for a whole package kind of look. Any other suggestions?

Yeah. Kenwood. Red or green buttons, some with red dot matrix illumination. MUCH better sound and overall quality for the money. I do installs on the side, and its one of my favorite to work with. Almost always one of my first recommends.

I have it in my lancer and I like it alot it looks real nice. i see what everyone is say about it breaking the first one i got broke on me too. but i returned it and the one I have now works fine no problem. I have 2 subs hooked up to it and i like the sound. I have seen the new 03's and they are nicer I say wait for that. just my opinion tho. I only pay 180 for it tho I knew some how worked at circuit city and they got it for me at their discount.(half off)

Yeah I was looking at the kenwood MPV619 too.... they dont seem to sell the 6022 anywhere i've been.

How is the MPV619?

I just wasnt really feeling the over all design of it. Just a personal thing. I'll play with it in the store a bit i guess and see if it grows on me.

Both are good HU. The place I go to find the lowest prices (almost always) is www.pricegrabber.com They have both the 6022 and the 619 listed. www.etronics.com sells them both for around $210. Use pricegrabber, search for the model number, and you're set. IMO there is an older Kenwood HU that has little grey dimpled rings that match the ring around the stick in the OZ EXACTLY. Don't know the model, but if I could do it over, I might have gone with that one. Personally, MP3 function is overrated. I'm not sure how fast the read is with Kenwood, but there's such a long load with the Pioneer, I only use it when I drive from FL to MD and back.

actually the load for the mp3s is lightning fast! to load the first track if like 2 or 3 secs then after that its just like normal...im not sure about the 619. maybe it might be slower? go somewhere and play with all the raidos first. find something that you like and that fits you and your car.

compare4price.com has that 619 for 204.00

it all depends on what you are looking for from a hu, how much power, etc. listen to all of them and see what you like.

i always thought JVC wasnt that good. Cant you get those at pep boys. I wouldnt get anything there except an oil change and i even leave that to jiffy lube. I have a panasonic mp3 cd player. i like it a lot. I think Alpine is top of the line unless you want to spends a couple stacks on a Kenwood dvd touch screen. A couple buddies of mine have those, they are awesome.

yeah. jvc wouldn't be on my list of first choices. you can get their stuff at pep boys, and it is rather cheap. i'm a big pioneer fan.

has anyone else noticed that you can get pioneer stuff at walmart, but its made differently (as in more cheaply), and the HU colors are usually different? what is up with that?

JVC? 2V? Listen to an Eclipse 8V and you will want nothing less.
